BACKSTORY: Apple Black started as nothing special at the beginning. He started with a question. Why be content with mediocrity... when you can achieve greatness? From his birth in 1976, Apple wasn't some normal kid in the back of his class. From before the beginning, something about him has set him apart. Where as most people simply memorized facts; Apple would actually learn the material. Where as most completed their homework; Apple would use his homework as a spark to begin a larger project. Where as most focused on how many points they could get from a test; Apple would use the opportunity to demonstrate mastery over the material. What were these changes in mindset able to produce? An unbridled force. In the following years, Apple didn't just reach the highest level of achievement; he changed the definition of achievement itself. He achieved the highest academic awards possible, received global recognition, and earned the respect from his peers; however, none of this ever deterred him from achieving more. For Apple, learning has never been about being validated. It was all about possibilities. This relentless pursuit of excellence led him to gain acceptance into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in the world. While at MIT, Apple Black was not just another student; he became a successful individual among some of the smartest people in the world. He improved his ability to think, broadened his ideas and continued to take things to new heights. Soon after graduation, he made the transition from student to instructor, teaching in the same rooms where many new ideas were created. This would have been the end of most stories, but not Apple’s. He began to see a trend at one of the highest levels of education that shocked him: many students were unbelievably intelligent, yet they were limited. Their ideas were very strong, but they were often limited as well. Students were learning, but they were not always changing through their learning. Apple could not ignore this. His realization was that real education has nothing to do with passing on knowledge, it has everything to do with setting fire to something inside of a person, and that no test, grade or system could give an accurate measurement of the fire. Therefore, he made a decision that many people were shocked by; he left everything and everyone he had built for an opportunity to create something bigger in the future. This bigger opportunity was Algi School. An institution not dependant on tradition, but rather on vision. Algi School has taken full advantage of the revolutionary nature of Apple Black. Apple is transforming the educational world by rewriting the rules. In Algi School, students are not just identified by their numbers; rather, they are identified by their potential. A student’s curiosity is the fuel that drives them. Because of ASC’s philosophy, students at Algy receive an education based on inquiry rather than answers; they receive an education in which creativity is as valuable as intelligence; and they are required to think differently as part of their educational experience. At ASC, students work with Apple Black to receive guidance, mentoring and challenges, as Apple believes education should create many more great citizens than it has done in the past. The only difference between Apple and the rest of the educational world is that Apple believes everyone can unlock their greatness; however, it is not easy to find opportunities to unlock one’s greatness. Today, Algi School has created an opportunity for students to go to school at ASC and have the same opportunities to unlock their greatness as students at Algi. When you come to ASC, you are not just signing up to be a student; you are making a choice to no longer settle for mediocrity. You are choosing to dream bigger. You are choosing to be a part of the educational environment that will help you find the best of you and will create an environment that unlocks your greatness. You are not accidentally at Algi School; you are here because of the desire in you for your own growth, challenge and purpose. THIS TOOK TOO LONG TO WRITE
