CHAPTER 2 - Bing THIS IS SO BUNSSSSS WHY AM I DOING THIS. - “2 droids in 1 day, huh? We’re feeling daring aren't we?” I heard a female voice, but decided not to try anything. “Yeah. We’re a bit behind schedule so I had to speed up the process. As you can see I've already removed the wires and…” A male voice, I won't bother listening in even though they're probably talking about me. The air around me felt… cold. My back felt colder, I was probably lying on a metal bed. Which is weird, since I've never felt anything before. I heard footsteps walking toward me. “This one seems a little slow, but the statistics say everything's up and running, and in perfect condition, too. Should we give them a little poke, or shock?” The girl asked the guy. A shock? Pain on my first day of existing? No thanks. I tried to open my eyes, but there were bright glaring lights above me. My eyes hurt… “That won't be necessary…” I muttered, surprised by my own voice, I’m a guy. I felt a knot in my stomach, embarrassment probably. “Oh my gosh, don't scare me like that!” she took a breath, probably a bit spooked from my sudden response earlier. “Anyway- welcome to the world, Bing..! can you see if all your limbs work?” I nodded, flexing my hands, feet, rolling my neck and my eyes back even sticking out my tongue (?) I slowly sat up, squinting my eyes and moving stiffly and mechanically. This is soooooooo trippy omg. My eyes adjusted to the room, it was dark, with the only major light source above me. I stared at my hand, it looked so real. I could see faint blue lights under my skin, probably replicating veins. I flexed my fingers, still feeling stiff, and looked around. The woman had long, tangled dirty blonde hair, skinny glasses and a wrinkled lab coat. The male had a light stubble, short black hair and tired eyes, he was also wearing a lab coat. I kept my head lowered, eyes darting between the two. “W-well i can see you're up and running..! I’m Eve, and my friend over here is Dexter.” I nodded, flexing my other hand. Since I'm basically a robot, I must be naturally stronger than humans right? Eve and Dexter exchanged glances. This is kind of awkward. “Um.” I started, just to fill the empty space “its.. Great to be alive, right?” I felt vibrations coming from my throat, something that must be natural but I sounded so robotic. Eve nodded, doing those awkward smiles, she clasped her hands. “Well! Sorry to rush you on your first day, but we’re a little behind schedule..” she glanced at Dexter for a moment, him taking the lead “basically, you're gonna be taught how to walk, run, climb, etc. we wont do all that today, but at the end of the day you're gonna be expected to at least know how to walk.” I nodded, it should be easy right? Just one foot after another.. I turned with my legs dangling off the table, then placing my feet on the cold ground while leaning on the table-bed-thing I was on. I felt my own weight push me down, I awkwardly lifted one hand from the table, disoriented. Gosh I feel like a baby learning how to walk! (maybe cuz i technically am). I lifted my other arm, quickly losing balance and supporting myself again. This is so awkward. I tried this a few times over, before finally getting it. I looked up, a bit of pride swelling inside me, but my face didn't move. “Your movements are already getting a little more natural, but that robotic stiffness is still there. Try stepping forward.” Dexter ordered. Now that I'm used to gravity, I did so with +
+ ease… with my arms balancing me. We practiced walking for a little before Dexter and Eve concluded I am now a pro at it! I could walk the entire earth if I wanted to! I AM UNSTOPPABL- “Great, we got lots done today!” Dexter smiled, y'know I haven't seen him smile until now. “Guess we’ll lead you to your room then… if you can catch us!” Dexter and Eve sprinted out the room, geez they're fast! I think- I mean they're the first people I saw run. “Hey!” I yelled, practically jogging after those 2 marathon runners. I exited the dark grey room and entered a long white hallway, with windows revealing other parts of the lab I was in. Cant focus, too busy racing. I sped up, each step getting a little bit closer. The hallway twisted and turned, I almost fell, but once I've got a target, I'm a missile. Eve was in front of Dexter, so ill target him first. My feet were burning as i was moving faster and faster, i was panting and felt exhausted in the best way. “GOT YA!” My hand latched on Dexter's shoulder, quickly passing him and running to Eve. I looked behind me, making a peace sign and- AGH! My shoulder came slamming into a wall, along with the right side of my head. I stumbled, feeling dizzy and falling to the floor, leaning against the wall. “BING!!” Eve yelped “I knew this race thing was a bad idea! We would have to restart the entire process now!” “Well- i didn't think he would run into a literal wall! His sight is exponentially better than ours, anyway!” “This is all our fault. I can't believe I went with your stupid plan!..” I blotted the voices out, the pain pulsed throughout my body. It hurts. They even added pain? What's the point of that? I slowly regained my balance and stood, pushing aside the pain. “I can run now.” I leaned against the wall, still wincing. I'm guessing the tone came out rather menacingly, as those two stopped arguing and stared at me. “Y-yes, you can. I'm so sorry all of this had to happen on your first day. This plan was all Dexter, by the way. I knew we should've gone with the treadmill…” she paused, glancing down then back up. “Anyway, your room is right here, so get some rest. The key card is built in your left hand, so just scan it over the door handle.” Her tone was somber, genuine humility in her voice. “Ill give Dexter a good talking to.” She said firmly, grabbing Dexter by the collar and dragging him away like a wet cat. I stood there, head and shoulder still aching. The hallway was a dark beige, looking like an average hotel hallway but pretty large. The entrance, where we came running from, was a long white hallway, probably leading to the labs. The walls around were lined with long windows, we were really high up, the people below looked like legos. I sighed, turning to my door before spotting a woman? What's she doing here? “Are you alright..?”
