@pandas12345678_ ok i get that this sounds harsh but the bar for idol rapping as i said, its SO LOW and its ridiculous. kpop fans really have no understanding of rapping and rap talent and its glaringly obvious. ive seen a thread where someone called rei one of the best female rappers. i get that shes talented and all but one of the BEST? seriously? no way. if she is the best then the bar was really dropped underground. not that im surprised, other than a few, idol rappers are just people who teh company needed to shoehorn into songs "evelli is SUCH a good rapper" i like her but yall. no she is not. her stage presence is wow but as ive said before she showed us that she was a good rapper at best? delivery was above average, speed was above averge. my point when bringing evelli into this was not to say shes overhyped but that the bar is rly low. fans really need to stop with saying that rapping is about preference and is subjective because LETS BE FR, NO IT IS NOT. NO IT IS NOT. rapping isnt about "whos style do u like most?" because kpop fans really think it is. if i see one more person saying "jennie is superior to soyeon because i like her style more" i will genuinely crash out. (again: my point was not to talk about jennie's/soyeon's rapping skills but to point out how kpop fans dont understand rap) rapping has five elements and kpop fans love ignoring that; flow, speed, diction, delivery, lyricism. and that brings me to another core issue with idol rapping: THE LACK OF LYRICISM. seriously? rapping is about storytelling and authenticity thats how it originated. if someone in hip hop didnt write their own lyrics, trust me they wouldnt be respected as a "rapper" and thats coming from someone who doesnt follow the genre much. oh yeah and the talking is a core issue too because at teh bare minimum rap is rhythmic talking right..? LIKE THE BARE, BARE MINIMUM? no because kpop rappers sometimes literally just talk, its SO SURPRISING. if you put a real rapper up against kpop rappers who people overhype (excluding people who genuinely deserve the praise they get, like soyeon/rm/han) like jennie (yeah yall shes overhyped sorry to say...i would explain but thatd take too long, if u want me to explain ask me) they would get brutally destroyed. OVERALL: idol rapping has an incredibly low bar, the lack of lyricism is a massive issue, kpop fans dont understand what shows rap skill, and kpop "rappers" are usually doing below the bare minimum.
