Dear Atlantis. You invaded South Africa because you just wanted its ports. Instead, you invaded the whole thing. You could have just asked to be granted ports, so you could expand your oceanic empire. Instead, you chose the harder way for both of us. Yes, you won without losing too much. Yes, you made reforms within the vassal state. But, the previous government was already trying to do that, and you made it worse, and covering it up with trying to reform, or giving people freedom that they already had owned before, and lost temporarily does not cover up the fact you have invaded an innocent nation, just for the sake of your empire. Also, your democracy doesn't truly mean a lot, if you've got lots of imperialism. Does it? Also, thanks for the technology and the foxholes from the previous war! It's all coming together. We're getting direct military help from Starcon, industrial assistance from another nation, and striking deals with a third! (I won't say which ones exactly.) Nearly every resistance member has at least a melee and range weapon. Enough Atlantican troops were secretly slaughtered in the night to cause confusion and disorder, not by much though. The resistance was almost everywhere... In the ranks of South Africans that joined the Atlantican Army, ordinary shopkeeprs, students, and other civillians. They have seen what Atlantis has done, for an unreasonable cause, seeking and claiming to fix what has already been in the process of being fixed. Nothing could have enlightened them more than the news of Starcon invading the Natal Republic. Every member was called into battle, in the suburban streets, cities, and forests and deserts. Guerrilla warfare is the main thing here, using natural cover and old but reliable foxholes from the previous South African war. Those who were near any Atlantican supply line, cut it off and fled the best they could, adding even more nightmares to the Natal Republics mind. A small but dedicated bastion of the resistance was able to physically reach Starcon forces. They were able to get a full shipment of Quint-Vextakken pistols from an exporter nation nearby. Those aren't the only weapons, they've even got ahold of assault-railguns and rifles from Atlantican soldiers and the previous war! (That's just what the main rebel force got) No soldier will go in a large group, they are all spread apart a reasonable distance. Again, Atlantican forces are... quite confused/in chaos as of now, they likely didn't expect the resistance to expand THIS much, and on top of that, start a rebellion to rightfully take back their homeland.
I forgot to add color-specific advances on the map. I was on a laptop. Once again, ANYONE could be in the resistance.
