I might make a short (~20-30 min playtime) language deciphering game. Think Chants of Sennaar, Homicipher, 7 Days To End With You, that sort of thing. I need help deciding stuff so like. answer my q+a 1: Do I make the game art in Procreate, or return to my roots with Scratch? Making them similar sizes will be easier in scratch and I think will give it a more homey feel but it's very annoying to draw in bitmap 2: I was thinking either technology themed or ghost/graveyard themed, maybe bug/small forest creature themed do we have opinions on that? I'm currently going for critter themed (all the people are like, newts and tenrecs and stuff) 3: Should I add a method of confirmation for the words? It'll make the player experience easier and make my coding 10 times less frustrating but can take away a bit of the mystery. 4: Should I make an alt to post it... or use one of my other alts... that way I can share it with my friends because they can't know my scratch account 5: Do I make the main character humanoid or no. Human/humanoid is harder to draw but gives better atmosphere. maybe mothman... hmmm... I do like mothma 6: Name suggestions? For the graveyard I was thinking either Tincture or Philosopher's Stone. For the computer-styled one, maybe Occam's Razor? Occam's Razor is actually a great name for either of them imo but more suggestions welcome
Update: I actually might make two.... more long-term, for a school project next year, a critter-themed language learning game called Occam's Razor, and another, shorter/simpler one involving more translation and storytelling called Chinese Room. Occam's Razor will be more open world while Chinese Room will be more of a visual novel
