tw: bones, taxidermy, parts of dead animals, mention of animal death in desc. here’s a little show of my bones and whatnot. the majority of things are found in nature, though some have been gifted or bought, and therefore have unsure origin. overall, i have tried to source everything as kindly as possible, though for some items i do not posses the knowledge on their sourcing. 1. warning! 2. all skulls and mandibles i own 3. close up of some of them 4-6. my fox skull, Rosemary. gifted to me by a family member, fairly sure found in a garden. 7-9. marten, named Emily. pretty sure a young beech / stone marten. bought from an antiques and curiosity shop. unsure of sourcing, though judging from missing teeth, foraged. [ after buying it, i won’t be buying any bones / skulls in the future, unless explicit sourcing. ] 10-12. blackbird called Egg my friend found in Italy!! it was present, and i still might clean it up a bit. very fragile, you can see the bash in its skull, which it probably died of. 13-18. first skull i ever found, an older European badger named Rodger. one of the best things i’ve ever found. it even has its mandibles fused, so you can mover them up and down 19-21. juvenile European badger skull called Bluebell. much smaller in comparison to Rodger. foraged. 22. rabbit mandibles, random teeth, squirrel mandible [ ? ]. also a shrew skull! 23. shard of a young badger skull, found same place as Rodger. 24. comparison 25. teeth, unsure if sheep or deer, found in a fragment of skull in a camping field, probably broken by a dog. there were sheep near by, so probably more likely. 26. lovely jar of fox teeth bought from Kintsuguilt, an amazing bone and gold leaf artist who sources their bones from natural deaths. i also have a little tiny jar of rodent bones from them [ not pictured here though ]. 27. teeth and a little pair mandibles. methinks rat. 28-30. roe deer skull called Dave. bought from a medieval festival. seller said that it was a byproduct from hunting in Norway or something. it was a while ago lol 31-33. sheep skull gifted by a family member! presumed foraged since it was really dirty when i got it. needs a proper degrease at some point… 34. big deer scapula 35. pelvis belonging to Bluebell the badger. 36. tiny skull and vertebrae belonging to Egg! 37-38. badger ribs and scapula, found near Rodger 39-41. deer vertebrae!! one of my favourite things in my collection - they’re still joined and you can move them :D 42. little bone… badger? literally can’t remember 43. the other mysterious object in my hand - badger humerus i think 44. scarlet tiger moth wings - i tried pinning it after finding it but then it started getting mouldy, so i messily salvaged the wings lol 45. foraged boar tusk 46. orange lurid glider - bought from Selina Grazia, who re-pins antiques, sources from pet insects and donations 47. sun beetle [ also bought from above ] 48. crow humerus, found 49. hummingbird hawk-moth, pinned by family member 50. my wall, which has two red kite feathers [ left and middle ], and what think might be an osprey feather, though i’m unsure… found. 51.
