After like, a year of gatekeeping the Kraig and Bean lore I feel like it's in a place now where I can actually speak about it! The entire story is revolved around loyalty and opposing religious authority, if any of that bothers you then you should probably back out!! None of the themes are meant to be against religion at all, it's actually a stand out against cults and to inform about how cults actually work. This story is actually mainly inspired by the book "The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly" which if you are into reading about cults that is an AMAZING book to start off with! So the whole story is revolved around the relationship between Kraig and Greenbean (ik their name is amazing). It shows how they grow and develop around one another. How GB begins to finally calm and how their entire self changes with Kraig's life. GB's life is REVOLVED around Kraigs. Whatever Kraig chooses to do in life GB is always thrown along one way or another. Which becomes the whole problem later on. It's really a very unhealthy dependency. Kraig however has this deep rooted fear of not providing enough, of not leaving some sort of imprint on the world. He wants to feel like he accomplished something in his life, no matter how selfish he eventually gets with it. So, that's where the cult comes in. The cult's main "purpose" is to bring people peace of mind, to have their questions answered, and give them purpose. You work to earn everything. So you can see where this goes. Kraig's massive obsession with feeling like he's doing something good leads him to joining this cult, despite GB telling him not to. GB is very desperate to keep Kraig around, but yk, clearly doesn't work. So for the first time in a really long time Greenbean is away from Kraig. Greenbean comes up with the whole plan to sneak Kraig out randomly so they can hang out, Kraig goes along with it despite knowing the whole "you can't talk with the outside" rule. He's leaving a mark on GB isn't he? More marks to leave on the world. Well eventually the cult finds out, they always will find out. Kraig's meant to be punished. Punished as in executed. He was deemed diseased for having contacts on the outside. So he was going to be executed. Greenbean makes their way over to save him but after being freed he leaves Greenbean behind. He goes, just leaves them there to take his place. He runs away from the cult, still highly loyal to this cult, don't matter if he's allowed in camp or not, this is his way to prove himself worthy. what he didn't know was the fact that the cult still wanted him. So, either making him die by his own hand or by theirs, they actually send GB's reanimated corpse after him which is great for the mental health if you didn't know. Kraig's pretty good at getting away or whatever, but eventually he'd have to face GB again. This is where his realization comes in. He did that. Its his fault. All he had to do to keep everyone safe was to not be selfish and to not have joined that cult. So he goes to kill GB himself </3 yk, gotta free their soul from being a reanimated puppet!!! basically that's it so far <3
ik I said i'd work on it over the summer... its basically summer so shhh
