I miss back when scratch was fun. I miss when I would scroll on scratch for hours, just indulging in the beautiful things that everyone made. I miss back when I could post on scratch without being scared it'd eventually get stolen by lifeless bots so that they'd know how to function. I have mixed feelings about the new Terms of Service (regarding the AI part), but none of them are good. I'm disappointed. Disgusted, even. This site is supposed to be rooted in creativity, original ideas, etc. OUR hard work should NOT be stolen. We put time, effort, and careful consideration into these projects. Why should we have our work stolen just for it to be fed to AI? Also, on top of all of that, AI is an extremely flawed creation. There are SO MANY issues, there's a whole movement against it (And those people, contrary to popular belief, are, in my opinion, RIGHT about AI. I'm a member of this movement btw) Using generative AI in a casual manner cannot be defended, I personally believe AI shouldn't be open to the public, and restricted to medical research. Also, if you ARE the public, please do your part and don't use AI. Here are some reasons why: - AI is extremely bad for the enviroment, using up LOADS of water just to cool down its servers. - AI can be inappropriate, no matter how many guidelines are set, the AI can loophole around them. - AI promotes ; - There are LOADS more reasons, but those are the main. I recommend doing research in your own time. Anyways, back to scratch; I'm extremely disappointed in the scratch team. I find it extremely hypocritical of scratch to do such a thing, especially because the majority of scratch HAVE expressed their opinions on AI, most of them being STRONGLY against it. It's almost like they KNEW what they were doing. THEY KNEW that this would upset people. Dawg, I don't even know anymore, honestly. This took a lot of effort to write, it is a whole speech after all, but it had to be said. I'm so tired. Hopefully the AI won't come along one day and steal this rant too. Gummy out.
