TW: mentions of prey and glitching. Crater frowned down at the remains of the rabbit she had just eaten. It was so unsatisfying, and it didn't even taste good. But of course she couldn't say that out loud. Her Father, Ridge, was sad enough as it was. "How's it taste, champ?" he said, his faded red snout crinkling as he tried to smile. "It's fine, Dad," she said, giving him a smaller smile in return. "But can I be excused? I need to go to the library to study, remember?" His smile disappeared. "Oh. Right. Yes, of course." Crater nodded. "Thanks. I'll be back around dark." She slipped on her sling bag and launched herself out the front door. With a few dips and dives, she swooped around the mountain peaks until she reached the library, a few mountains over. She landed lightly on the balcony and shook out her wings. She might be coming to the library, but she wasn't here to study. "Good evening, Crater," the librarian greeted her. She was a young SkyWing-SandWing hybrid named Gila, with rough orange scales and black stripes on her tail. She had sandy gold speckles and dark gray eyes that sometimes looked like they had strange glitching strips in them. "What are you looking for today?" "I need some scrolls about Animus magic," Crater asked politely. "As many as you can find." Gila's brow furrowed. "What for?" Crater's heart skipped a beat. "Um... it's for... a school project? I'm taking Magic Studies this year." She forced herself to smile, though her wings were clammy with sweat. "Oh, of course!" Gila said, with a fake-looking smile. Crater lashed her tail, unnerved, but went to find a nook anyway. / What was that about? / she thought. / why is Gila acting so weird? It's probably nothing. / But she couldn't shake the prickling feeling on her neck. Something was definitely going on. Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1322255283 First: you're here!
