Training with the Mares [] Upd. 067 [] Golden Pastures ~~~~~~~~ This afternoon I took three of my mares out for some training. First, I rode trixie. I had her do four jumps and she did well for her first time. I am not too concerned about her gaits or reaction to cues, but she is a bit wonky with her jump and seems to land strangely, tripping with most of her landings. I think this is an unbalance thing that she has because this was her first time, so my worries about that, aren't very big. Next, I got Siri tacked up and lunged her. She is a bit young for riding, so desenitizing her to tack is a great start to her journey of riding. I think she will be a good jumper and she has a lot of control and is very balanced so far. We won't know her future is determined until her first jump, until then, she did amazingly! Next, it was time for liberty with Apple. I got her at a nice gait and we started for a jump. By now, it became cooler and darker out, with the sun setting, we only had so much time to perfect our routine. We approached the jump and she was doing it very nicely, when suddenly, she refused the jump. I don't understand why this happened, we have been working on this routine almost constantly(only on days she does riding, not everyday) and she took the jump easily all those times. I fell very harshly onto the ground and then sat up. Apple was rearing and obviously very nervous. I got up and she got more anxious, reared farther, and flipped Quickly, she rolled over onto her belly and I was much relieved, but then, after maybe an hour, I tried to get her to stand, but she wouldn't. I brought out a blanket, took off her neck reign, and sat down for about an hour. Update on this iccident later, but I don't need a vet, maybe some tips, but a vet isn't neccesary, as I can work on this myself as a vet. At the end of the day, this is hard. Apple suffered something I have never seen happen before and she is unable to get up. The choices are grim for her. I will of course give her an X-Ray, but she is paralyzed. She can't stand, she has no chance.
