-- Chapter 5 -- Dear Diary, guess who just started their Sophomore year? I did! I was going to write in this over the summer, and I figured my mom would want that too. However, just as I guessed, I was quite busy over the summer. Aside from all the vacations and beach trips me and my family took, I’ve been starting to hang out with Daniel outside of school, even occasionally over the summer. He’s been partaking in a lot of summer sports, which I think is cool. Adrian has been hanging out with me too, though I feel like I’ve been starting to hang out with Daniel more than him. I’d love to hang out with Adrian more, but there’s just something about Daniel that I see. There’s something there that I just don’t see about Adrian. In any case, we still talk often, and he still helps me whenever I need it. In fact, Daniels’ been texting me a lot since school started again this year. Sometimes it’s about homework. Sometimes it’s about sports. Sometimes it’s about random things he thinks I’ll laugh at. I do laugh. Quite often actually. For someone who's really popular at school, he’s really easy to talk to. I think Adrian’s begun to notice though. I’ve seen him get a little quiet when I mention Daniel. Not in a mean way, he’s never mean. He just seems to get lost in his thoughts, that’s all. He still walks me to class though, and he’s never afraid to ask me how my day’s going. Adrian has always been good at those kinds of things. School itself feels a little different this year. There’s more work, obviously. I think it has something to do with me being more mature than last year. Who’s to say for sure though? My mom’s gotten a little more harsh over the summer. I’m not exactly sure what I did wrong. I do try to make her happy though. I’ve always tried to make her happy. Perhaps writing in this diary will help with that. After all, mom did say this diary was supposed to benefit me. Anyway, I have to go now. Sophomore year feels different already, and hopefully it’ll be a good kind of different. Until next time.
@leonnite126678 (that's me!) for the story, the banner (made on Canva), and my ideas I guess for hosting the writing contest!
