-- Chapter 7 -- Diary, it finally happened. Every year, halfway into the year, the school holds a dance. I didn’t go last year because I wasn’t interested. Though, this year was different. Adrian insisted I went. He even helped me pick out a dress for the dance. When we got there, the school gym was packed. Students were everywhere, talking with their friends, hanging out, taking pictures, and having fun. Even the teachers were playing music and getting out on the dance floor. That’s when I saw Daniel. Adrian had gone off to get us snacks when he came up to me. We talked for a few minutes. It was nice getting to talk to someone whom I felt so close with. Then he asked me to dance, and before I could even comprehend what was happening, I told him yes. It wasn’t a typical slow dance, but it wasn’t a catchy fast dance either. It was just right. When the song ended, Daniel asked me if I wanted to go out with him, and I think my entire face went red. I told him I’d love to, and then he wrapped me into this warm hug that felt really cozy. Once he left to go back with his friends, I couldn’t help but tell Adrian all about it when he came back. He asked if I had fun, and so I nodded enthusiastically. He smiled, though I could tell something was off. It was a smaller smile. Not really sad, but he didn’t seem all that excited either. I keep thinking about that dance, and about Daniel. It gives me this warm feeling inside, just like that hug he gave me, and I love it. Wow, I’ve been writing so much about the dance that I completely lost track of time. I’m supposed to go over to my grandma’s house tonight for dinner with my family. I’m really looking forward to that. Until I write again, Diary.
@leonnite126678 (that's me!) for the story, the banner (made on Canva), and my ideas I guess @its_aves for hosting the writing contest!
