Despite Minaleria lifting the tolls for passing the Mazadran Strait for Neuvellon, the major Neuvellonian shipping corporation CMA CGM (Compagnie maritime d'affrètement - Compagnie générale maritime) has contested the tolls placed upon nations that hadn't made a deal with Minaleria, citing the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea, Article 26, "No charge may be levied upon foreign ships by reason only of their passage through the territorial sea." CMA CGM does cite the exception "Charges may be levied upon a foreign ship passing through the territorial sea as payment only for specific services rendered to the ship. These charges shall be levied without discrimination." which describes a scenario wherein the vessel passing through the straits must utilize the nation's waters for services (such as pilotage, towing, or using specific port infrastructure.) wherein otherwise it would be illegal to enforce tolls upon foreign vessels. CMA CGM's reasoning for contending these tolls are not due to the actions of the Neuvellon government, but largely because the vessels used for other nations' services (largely in Europia and which have not signed deals with Minaleria for shipping rights) have been consistently tolled despite being a Neuvellonian company. CMA CGM has requested EEC to take economic action against Minaleria due to these grievances.
