The Truth By: Anne _______________ September 1, 1991 Hermione could barely contain her excitement. She was waiting on the platform 9¾, without her parents, of course. When she received the letter from Hogwarts, her parents tried everything they could to persuade her not to go. They even locked her in a room for a day without food. Hermione stood strong and protested firmly. Her parents gave up as Hermione rambled on and on about what she read in Hogwarts: A History. Hermione was currently trying to not burst from excitement and also trying to carry her luggage at the same time. She tried to lift her overflowing bag up and tripped. Her suitcase and bag went flying as she fell backwards on the hard floor. She scrambled to get up and heard some chuckling as she rose. Hermione quickly picked up her bag and righted her suitcase. She whipped around to find herself staring at someone who looked very familiar. Hermione narrowed her eyes at the blond haired, grey eyed boy as he laughed some more. Her patience wore thin and finally snapped. “Are you done laughing at me?” she said, her voice cold. The boy coughed quickly like he thought he could hide the peals of laughter that came before that. “Sorry, you just looked so funny when you fell on your…” he trailed off when he found his grey eyes staring back at her furious piercing brown ones. He cowered for a second then remembered who he was. “Hey! Don’t look at me like that! I am Draco Malfoy, and people don’t look at Malfoys like that!” he said, straightening up so he looked taller than her. “Well, I don’t care who you are and why I can’t look at you like that.” Hermione said haughtily, grabbing her bag and her suitcase before spinning on her heel. “Wait!” she paused, turning around to look at Draco. “I, er, am sorry.” A look of shock flitted on Hermione’s face. Draco couldn’t believe what he had said either. Sorry? Malfoys didn’t apologize! “I mean, er, never mind,” he said, a flush creeping up his cheeks. He turned around to hide them and started walking away. Hermione looked at the boy’s retreating back, confused. First he had been laughing at her, then he apologized? A loud train whistle snapped her out of her thoughts. She realized the Hogwarts train was here! She forgot all about the Draco boy and the confusion for a moment. She was going to Hogwarts! Finally something that would get her away from home! She skipped merrily to the entrance of the train, dragging her suitcase all the while.
