I'm answering this for our advanced band class 2025-26 bc now it's summer Questions by @duckbills Answered by: Music is Ravio's Theme Thumbnail made with Canva Q1: Why did choose to do band? A: uh here's a sorta long story! I did cello in 4th grade, kinda sucked at it, so in 5th grade I decided to play flute. mostly bc I liked the aesthetics of it. anyway, I HATED flute. I had braces at the time, idk if that contributed to anything, but I could barely make a sound. I was SO BAD. then in the summer before 6th grade, for some strange reason, I decided to play flute again. actually, later I tried to switch to cello, on like the second day of school, and failed. (idk if I forgot that I sucked even more at cello) but two of my friends in class were also playing flute, and surprisingly, I could make sound! so now since my friends were playing, my ego got in the picture, and I had to be better then them. (it took me about a year) so then by the end of the year, I had tons of fun in band and I had also made it into advanced band at our school. so 7th grade, I was in our best band, we were amazing, it was amazing, I had so much fun, no regrets except for not joining band earlier. Q2: What instrument(s) do you play? A: lol that giant paragraph up there. anyway, flute. I play piano at home and i'm like lower intermediate Q3: Craziest thing your band Director has done? A: he danced to soda pop Q4: Is your band class big, small, or average? A: we have like 45 people, so for middle school concert band, big, I think Q5: Do you wish you could play another instrument than what you have already played? A: NOPE flute is so peak (except there's ALWAYS that one problematic person bro they're so annoying) Q6: What section has the least amount of students? A: if we're counting all the saxophones as one thing, bassoons or French horns (they both have 2), if not, we have 1 bari sax and 1 alto sax Q7: How many years have you played your instrument? A: as of now, 3! Q8: What was your favorite piece of music you ever played? A: the great locomotive chase or tank from cowboy bebop Q9: Have you ever damaged your instrument? A: no but I did get a damaged second-hand flute that we later sold Q10: How long do you practice your instrument? A: erm... not much at home. we DO have band every day 4th period tho (well did since it's summer) Q11: What do you hate about your instrument? A: AGHHHHHH IT'S NEVER IN TUNE every note is either sharp or flat. you get one note in tune? the note right after is so sharp it's illegal. Q12: Are you beginning, intermediate, or advanced in your opinion? A: if I take all flute players that exist? beginning. for a average middle school band? advanced. Q13: What section is the most annoying? A: trombones. they're mostly boys and they always goof off and aren't very good at their instruments. Q14: Worst part about being a band kid? A: other people think we're weird. like yeah WE can call ourselves weirdos and a cult, but YOU cant. Q15: How often do you do performances/concerts? A: as advanced band, we play during open house, back to school night, have a winter and spring concert, play at a competition/judgy thing, and we play at disneyland Q16: Have you ever messed up during a performance? A: uh, yes. so many times. who hasn't? except for the pick me violinist kid everyone wants to punch Q17: Has your band director ever called you out for making a mistake? A: not me specifically, but as a section. bc it's hard to tell who messed up. during sectionals tho, other kids have, yes Q18: What section always mess up on their part? A: troMBONEs and second trumpets Q19: Favorite scale? A: always and forever, Bb major Q20: Last question! Does your band do any activities during class time? A: nah, we mostly do band stuff. we do goof off and talk a lot tho, bc our band director's chill BONUS: Did you enjoy this? Tell me what you think! A: yeyeyeye actually really fun
