It takes a while to navigate the nearest police station, but by analyzing the local map hung up at the borough, I eventually found my way. The door rings a soft bell as I open it and walk in, panting, my breathing unsteady. I read someone’s nametag, Sheriff Orcin and walk to the counter. “Hello, young lady,” he says blankly. I catch my breath and try to act sophisticated. “Greetings,” I reply. Then there’s a long pause and I think about what to say. But fortunately, he says something first. “How can I help you?” He tilts his head a bit and squints his eyebrows. “Are you here to report a crime?” “Sort of?” I say, trying to think of how to say what I’m about to say. Honestly, it sounds invasive. I never should have came here. But since I’m here anyway, I might as well say it. He waits for a response and then I give him one. “I was wondering… what are your current cases that you’re attempting to solve?” “And what would you do with that information?” he asks. I don’t respond. I don’t know how to elaborate without explaining my secret mission. “Listen, young lady, that’s private information that I cannot tell you. Have a good rest of your night.” He nods to the door and asks me to leave. I refuse to leave. “It’s a life or death situation,” I say firmly. “Do you want to go to juvenile for defying the sheriff?” he snaps. “Do you want the world to end just so you wouldn’t tell me your stupid, elusive cases that we all know you’re not gonna solve without my help?” I snap back. “Oh, please,” he scoffs. “The world is not gonna end.” “Yet your diet did,” I mumble, commenting on his obesity. Then I speak in a voice that he can hear me in. I search through my purse for evidence. I have none. “Go home. I’m not here to listen to your ludicrous pranks.” he says. “Fine,” I finally give in. “This is not the last time you’ll see me.” I stomp out and hold back my tears. I’m no step closer to saving the world. “Seriously? That’s your plan? You knew that police officer wasn’t gonna tell you s***," a haunting, ghost-like voice says from behind me. I turn around and find no one. “Who’s there? Reveal yourself!” I yell into thin air. Then I turn to look in front of me and sigh. I look up and see a ghost lady floating upside down in the air, her arms and legs criss-crossed. I jump back, startled, and scream quietly. She chuckles. “I’m not gonna hurt you,” “Are you real? I ask. “Of course I am,” she chuckles. “Okay then,” I say. “What or who exactly are you?” “I’m the spirit that showed you that vision, silly,” she says. “So you’re the one who was in that ridiculous black costume, the one who shapeshifted into my family?” I scoff. “Bingo,” she says charmingly. Is she amusing herself with this conversation? “So… what is your purpose? Why are you here?” I ask, annoyed. “To guide you. By the way, none of your questions are gonna get you anywhere.” she advises and holds back her giggles. “Then, what will?” I say. “I’m supposed to guide you, not give you all the answers,” she chuckles. She sure does chuckle a lot. She turns herself right side up and floats around me before tapping my head teasingly. I winch as she walks in front of me and gets closer and closer. Then she puts her hand on my shoulder and closes her eyes. My head suddenly goes up and I can’t put it back down, then I fall to the ground. I’m having another vision.
