{[ 6 ]} I sat, fiddling around with some of Mom’s Subspace Crystals while she wasn’t looking, dazzled by the dappled black within the translucent magenta. Sure, I wasn’t supposed to be handling these without her permission, but she was taking /so/ long to fix up a Tripmine Frame, even though we were supposed to be training before Bella and Jannet came over. My mother suddenly turns around, presumably to check up on me when she notices what I’m holding and frantically kneels down to the ground to where I’m sitting. Mom can’t talk, but her alder eyes do all the talking for her with a slightly upset and worried glare. She holds out her palm, raising her eyebrow. In our silent, shared language, she’s pretty much saying, ‘Lynn, give that to me now…’ I sigh and place the crystal into her fingers, grumbling, “But, Mom, they look so cool! Plus, it’s not like I was going to detonate it or something!” She blinks in utter disbelief. We both know these things are sensitive to motion. Any sudden shake could easily set a crystal off. Tilting her head and carefully sliding the crystal into one of her robe’s pockets, Mom wraps her arms around me in a hug. She ruffles my head and nuzzles into my hair, meaning, ‘I just don’t want you to get hurt…’ Something along the lines of that- and I hug her back. “Don’t worry, Mom.” I reassure her, “I’m tough, I’ll be okay.” Mom pulls away with a soft smile on her face, nodding. She stands back up and turns to her desk, giving me a last warning glare before continuing what she was working on before. There’s no way she’ll let me hold even a single speck of Subspace Dust now. So much for training with the other Subspace crystals… I wandered out of the cabin, sitting on the front porch steps. Today, it’s pretty cloudy out, and I can only assume it’s early evening. I spot a small silhouette moving around not too far from me, and I think it’s Phoebe. I call out to the youngest of us all, waving her over, “Heya Pheebs!” She turns to me, smiling, until I notice another silhouette just behind her. Must be Evie- her older sister. “Oh, hiya Evie!” Evie silently waves to me, not attentive to me whatsoever. After seeing that her younger sister is safe with me watching over her, she starts to walk back off towards her shared cabin with Phoebe and Noob, her older brother. As Evie leaves, Phoebe comes rushing over, smiling at me, “Lynn! You’ll never believe what I saw today!” I grin. “Oh yeah, what’d you… see…” I trail off as I glance up, watching the Lansdown sisters racing through the foliage just in front of us. From what it seems, Ava, with a pair of scissors, is running from Costanza, Costanza chasing her sister down relentlessly with her c00lgui gifted to her by her father. “What… uhm-” I try to manage saying after seeing whatever that was. “What’d you see…?”
