SPOP STARTER PACK #2: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1325598286 Hey hey hey spop! This is Koko, and I will be starting a new series today! This series is to help new spoppers, with tips & tricks so that they know how to start out right! This project will be about AUDITIONING!! Let's a go! 1. AUDITION FOLDERS When you join spop, you will see lots of spoppers have an 'audition folder' - this consists of many recordings (often short) showcasing that spopper's vocal and/or rap skills. I would recommend singing RAW: this means NO backing track, NO fx and NO autotune on your voice. This is so that companies can hear your real voice so they know how to build on it/how it would fit with others' voices. Also, even if you are vocal-based or rap-based, still include some recordings of the other category because companies look for well-rounded idols even if they are stronger in one area (blackpink in your area). For vocal recommendations, I would choose ballad-type songs: not necessarily the ones with the highest or longest notes, but the ones which you think show off your vocal skills and tone best. For rap, PLEASE actually choose the rap part in a song, not just the chorus. I have seen so many people choose a chorus as their rap part, when in reality it's not. (i may be a bit harsh as i am a rap-based idol). You can also include some mini covers in your audition folder. This could help companies see how you last throughout a song, especially good if you are auditioning for soloist. Make sure your mic is clear, and try to minimise background noise <3 You can also add an introduction (even in different languages if you can to show off your language skills!) 2. AUDITIONING PROCESS Now you've made your audition folder, you are ready to audition! Most (if not all) auditions will have a form to fill out. This will include categories such as your name and a lookalike. The name you use in Spop doesn't have to be your real name. In fact, it shouldn't be (for privacy reasons). Try to choose a stage name that nobody else has. Like, when I open an audition I don't wanna see a billion Aeras or Yoonas. Here are some pretty stage names that (i think) nobody has used: Willow, Alice, Tara, Jayda, Bonnie, Abi Next, you may/may not have to choose a lookalike. Reminder: THIS IDOL DOES NOT HAVE TO LOOK LIKE YOU!! Most of the time it will just be your favourite/biased idol from that specific group (unless there is no need for you to choose between rap or vocal, then the idol you pick is the position you get e:g if I pick Rami from Babymonster in this scenario I would get a vocal position) If you REALLY want to get into a group and you don't think you have a high chance of getting in (which you shouldn't, YOU'RE AMAZING!!) I recommend choosing a lookalike not many people have gone for. Example, if lots of people put their 1st choice lookalike as Jisoo or Jennie, in a blackpink group, I would go for Lisa or Rose as my 1st choice for a higher chance. Some groups will have an option to put 'allrounder'. Now, I see SO many people put allrounder even if they are more vocal or rap based (I have done this, I no longer do usually). If you KNOW you are more vocal or rap based, then put that. If you think you are VERY equal, only then put allrounder. 3. CONSISTENCY Here is my biggest tip: DON'T audition for every group out there! You will overwork yourself, and we don't want that! Audition for 3-5 groups over 1-2 weeks and see how you do! If you don't seem to be getting in, try auditioning for more unknown groups. It's completely okay if you don't get in right away! Your voice may have just not suited that group's concept. If you want to know why you didn't get in, just ask the company or person holding the auditions! They may be able to give you some tips and tricks to improve your audition folder! Most people don't get into their first group tbh, so it's normal. 4. GET AUDITIONING! Here are some open auditions I found on the spop comm and just somewhere lol! (will be updating regularly) MADVILLLAIN: Unveil: DUALIX: Studios to find auditions!: I hope you guys found this helpful <3 Stay tuned for the next installment of SPOP STARTER PACK!
