These are some ideas for articles for my new Zine idea. (A zine is a kind of short magazine) Feel free to add more ideas in the comments (If anyone ever sees this. lol) ------------------------------------------------------------ What's happening on Scratch! - latest news summarized (With a link to the full stories) - some cool new projects (Screenshots) - Promising New Scratchers each issue (Quick 3 Question interviews. Or just a spotlight on their work) - Latest trends on Scratch. (Does Scratch have trends?) Editorial or Opinion piece. (Could invite guest writers) - This would be some musings about something scratch related such as: - The state of the Explore page - What new blocks Scratch could add - An argument against F4F - An argument for F4F - Etc "How to" articles Each issue could have a different simple 'How to' tip like - SImple Arrow movement scripts - Simple sprite bouncing effect - Sparkly pointers - etc - Could be submitted by users? In depth Interviews -Actually research the Scratcher you're interviewing and ask question related to them. -NOT the usual ones like: - How did you find out about Scratch - What's your fav project - Who's your fav scratcher - And your least favorite - etc... - These are fine for kiddie interviews, but our one's are gonna be proper journalism. lol. Or at least a bit more interesting. Project idea of the month. Such as this one: - make a movie review project! - tips on how to write a review - Helpful web link to get movie images - Where to get clips of movie lines - Scoring system. Stars or something more fun - links to some projects to help fancy it up. - sparkly pointers - zoom in on pictures when you hover over them - Text engines? - Remember to tell people to follow Scratch Rules 'I don't know what kinds of projects to make' article -what do you enjoy? -what are you good at -Some easy ideas to get people started Useful websites to help you Scratch better - Transparent backgrounds - Snipping tool web version? - Sprite resource websites The Voice acting scene on Scratch (Or other scenes too) -Notable Studios -Notable Projects -Notable people -How to get into voice acting -How to Audition like a pro -Interview with a prominent voice actor here -How do I get a Voice Actor for my project How do I get music into my projects? -Some websites you can create music and save it. -or use music from other scratch projects you like. - How to search for music on scratch - How to find the music in a project (see inside) - More advanced - using websites to DL music from YT. - Save it to a folder on your device and upload to Scratc Art of the Issue - A few images of some of the latest art projects on Scratch - Artist profiles go here Game reviews - Some realistic game reviews. With screenshots and a score. (Don't want to be overly mean to peoples games though.) Maybe just do good games only. Animation Spotlight - Some of the latest animations talked about. - Screenshots Scratch interesting stats Page - How many projects - etc Coder corner - Highlight some of the amazing things being done with coding. - Any cool Scratch coding discoveries lately Recommended web Series on Scratch - ongoing comic series that are cool - Written stories - Audio dramas Competitions that are going on - like PGMA for example - talk about who the competitors are, what some of their past work has looked like. - Agree or disagree with judge decisions - interview competitors and judges - Talk about past events and how they went Things to do besides Scratch - I mean, maybe. Correspondence, letters and Fan mail - comments that have come in about previous issues - Questions from readers. And answers. Ads - People could submit ads for their projects maybe? - Or maybe we could make some fake ads for projects that we like. Something about The message boards -Yea idk what Looking for contributors to the zine. -Every issue should point readers to a Studio and also encourage people to submit their own articles for a chance to be published in the zine. Really good submissions could become regular contributors. FINAL NOTES: The zine should not be too long. It would have one or two main articles and a few short ones each issue. How cool would it be to have cover art by different artists each issue. I need to come up with a nice way to view the pages. (Maybe coders could also submit different magazine engines too. So it works different each time?) This would all be very cool, but it also sounds like a lot of work and I have other (More important?) responsibilities, so I hope I can pull this off one day.
