Hello everybody. I have some sad news... I just realized I am using a student account (still). I may try to transfer my account, but I may not. That means I might not be able to finish my writing. However, I am currently writing this all down and I will try to get it published. If this book is left unfinished at the end of June, thanks for being loyal to my book. Now onto the book! WARNING: Character death and tension.
Chapter 9: The strike squad started moving. Dex had a hard time keeping up, for he had not left the base for as long as he could remember. Dex clutched his forehead. "Hey rookie, are you alright? You seem sick," called Nex from up front. "I-I'm alright! Just a headache," Dex replied. Dex hated lying to Nex. Every word felt like somebody stabbing his chest with unyielding daggers. Just then, Dex heard a scream. It was a soldier in his squadron. "Xandel! Stay still!" As Dex moved closer, Xandel came into view. Nex was bent over him with a small knife. "Troops! Keep your eyes peeled," shouted Nex. Dex noticed Xandel had a large fang stuck in his leg. Rexley sighed. "Rex, you saw what happened. Was it a Reaper Viper," Nex asked. "Aye sir. I couldn't get there in time." Xandel cried out in agony again. "The poison is spreading quickly! Dex! Give me an antivenom now!!" Dex scrambled to find a med kit. He had to save Xandel. Rexley ran after him, trying to help. "Dex! The backpack!" Dex ran to Xandel's bag and franticly rifled through it. He heard Nex calling for antivenom, Rex looking through another backpack, and Xandel's screams. Dex finally pulled out the med kit and ran over to Xandel and Nex. Xandel's body lay limp and pale. "You're too late. Xandel is dead."
