Projekt: Kansalivåder is one of the largest civilian projects Valdur has seen in years. It began in 2021, after a long period during which much of the country’s infrastructure was starting to show its age. Trains were slowing down, bridges needed serious repairs, rural internet lagged behind, and many tunnels and roads were no longer keeping up with people's needs. The project keeps Valdur connected. Railways, roads, bridges, tunnels, power lines, and communication networks are the country’s veins. When these work, people, goods, power, information, and emergency services flow. When they fail, everyone is affected. The project upgrades railways, bridges, tunnels, broadband, roads, transit, energy links, and flood control. In cities and industrial regions, this means faster trains, better freight, improved stations, and more reliable power. Rural, mountain, and forest areas get safer roads, stronger bridges, better internet, and easier emergency access. At this stage, most areas of Kansalivåder are around 86% complete. Regions such as Hochstadt, Westmark, and Zentralgau are progressing faster and are close to being finished. In contrast, areas like Alpenrand, Nordkamm, rural Nordwald, and parts of Südostmark are still behind, primarily because their work is more challenging. Mountain tunnels, winter weather, landslide protection, forest routes, contractor delays, and difficult terrain have all slowed progress in these harder regions compared to those nearing completion. The official deadline is mid-2029, though the government is open to giving limited extensions to regions that genuinely need more time. When work is finished in one area, the crews are usually not simply dismissed. Rail teams, bridge engineers, broadband contractors, road crews, and inspection teams are transferred to regions that are still behind. This helps ensure the easier areas do not finish far ahead while the harder regions are left waiting. For civilians, the project means better daily life: safer roads, faster trains, stronger bridges, reliable electricity, improved rural internet, and stronger regional links. For some towns, it is their first major investment in years. Though Kansalivåder is a civilian project, it boosts national resilience. Better railways and bridges help move supplies during emergencies. Improved broadband supports communication. Stronger power links keep hospitals, factories, depots, and services running in a crisis.
