The DNS-024 Elino Duplacan is a guided missile destroyer that started service in the late 70s as Divinia’s main destroyer. Over time, the DNS-024 has been outmatched by its predecessor and more advanced counterpart (DNS-032 Oyupe Class) due to its outdated weapon system and lack of modern defensive equipment. The Elino is still active but not fully commissioned as it lacks major modern weapons. 60% of the 30 ships are under maintenance due to their lack of modernization. Although the DNS-024 is becoming outdated to modern standards, it still remains as Divinia’s main large destroyer force capable of launching missiles for defensive purposes. The Elino Duplacan-Class destroyer has a unique weapon system throughout the ship. The DNS-024 has a 74mm main gun at the front of the deck with a much older design, as well as 2 CIWS systems in the back and front part of the bridge. The least noticeable armament in the ship is the capability to port a helicopter for anti submarine and surface operations, and torpedo launchers from the inside of the vessel. Lastly, the DNS-024 offers 2 VLS systems that holds 24 missiles each. First developed in 1978 as the main destroyer but later decommissioned in 2008 as it got too expensive to maintain, but return to service in 2016 as Divinia’s GDP grew and the Navy’s budget grew as well. The ships still suffer many flaws after its 8 years of abandon.
