This is a project which presents my research on some figures of the Jewish resistance in WW2. Inside the project you will recieve a warning and a notice. There is also a Yiddish resistance song inside that plays once you enter. This should hopefully be simple enough to understand. Just click on buttons you want to select. I hope this informs you. :) Extra information: In my project, I chose to focus on two people and a resistance group, as they struck me as particularly interesting and all played major parts in the role, as well as highlighting how many jewish resistance groups there were in WW2, and covering not only one, narrow aspect of the resistance, but a wider picture. By presenting this all in a Scratch project, it allows me to easily show many small, yet significant aspects of the resistance; for instance, the music they had, and also allowing the viewer to learn about these important figures and groups in history. I chose Tuvia Bielski, Eta Wrobel and the White Rose resistance, as they all are different from each other yet each were striving towards a common goal; Tuvia Bielski was the leader of one of the most significant resistance groups, the Bielski partisan group, which was formed in 1942 after Germany had invaded Belorussia, where he had been born. He saved and welcomed countless jews into his camp, and thanks to him, a high percentage of those he led survived. Eta Wrobel was also part of a partisan unit; Eta also fought despite being a woman, making important strategic decisions and being active in missions with the men, highlighting how both women and men, regardless of gender, played a great role in the resistance. After 1944, when the Germans left Lokov, the place she had lived in, she was asked to become mayor of it. Finally, I chose the White Rose, as they are a particularly interesting resistance group; instead of using violence, like many other resistance groups did, they used their intellect and persuasion, remaining peaceful and showing their resistance through leaflets. They were one of the few groups who resisted in Nazi Germany, and despite their best efforts, they came to a tragic end in 1943, but still left an impact on people. Through choosing a wide range of people and groups, I wanted to highlight the many aspects of the jewish resistance in WW2. I have used a wide range of primary and secondary sources as part of my research all throughout. For Tuvia, I used websites that included interviews from previous Bielski partisans and Tuvia Bielski, and biographies made of him by many museums, along with articles about Bielski’s role in WW2. For Etna, I used interviews of her, along with more biographies made of her, and for the White Rose, I used the evidence of the pamphlets they made, their memoirs, and academic studies and biographies on the group. I chose evidence that was concise yet interesting, which highlighted the extent of their resistance and also gave a good, clear summary of their roles in the resistance.
Here come the credits!!! All the people, events and subjects mentioned here are real. They were actually part of the Resistance in WW2. This is just a collection of my research presented in easy-to-access project form. I used websites such as Wikipedia and the Holocaust Encyclopedia. The music is Zog nit keyn mol (Partisan's music, from the Jewish music archive.) An actual Jewish Resistance song. The song after that is Dark Piano - Sociopath (it sets a very serious mood but sounds very nice, despite the title.) Coding by me! I hope this project helps you learn about a few figures of the Resistance.
