Learn all about Kalimbas and have fun playing on your own digital one! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I recently got a kalimba - AKA, Thumb Guitar, Thumb Piano, etc. I love it! I love learning new songs and challenging myself. I hope you enjoy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Planning on re-recording songs sometime soon. <) - If I learn enough songs, maybe I'll make a Part #2 in the future! If you enjoyed this project, keep an eye out! Scroll down for tips ⇩ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- PS, I also named my kalimba Kali Ma (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom reference XD) and it makes sense as a name because you just need to take the "b" away from "kalimba" *Wink! Heheh...* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8 KALIMBA TIPS for care and more: 1- Do not get wet. It could ruin the sound quality and it risks the tines rusting. 2- Do not clean with alcohol. Use the small cloth provided with your kalimba and gently wipe down. 3- Do not drop. (Obviously!) 4- Always use a case when you are taking it somewhere. 5-Best not to have super short nails when playing; it can get a little uncomfortable. 6- Do not play with dirty hands; especially if you have a wooden kalimba. 7- Avoid playing with sweaty hands. 8- I would recommend 8-17 keys for beginners.
Took me about 3 days of working to make. :) ⬤ Credit to YouTube kalimba and piano tutorials for the songs. ⬤ Credit to @Mangodream- for the mouse trail tutorial: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1041355619 ⬤ All the rest of the code is by me. Since you scrolled all the way down here, let me bore you with some features in this project that would probably go unnoticed otherwise but were surprisingly tricky to get right! ~Mouse trail (making it disappear when playing digital kalimba and reappearing back at main menu) ~Making buttons grow and shrink ~Making almost all the text have multiple layers (the back being black) to give a 3D, shadow effect ~BACK button feature ~Kalimba animation during music ~Recording every individual note for digital kalimba ~Playing songs with minimal hesitation or mistakes (I got my kalimba a few days ago so... yeah) ~Getting the picture of my kalimba to look as perfect as possible ~Code to drag keys on digital kalimba ~Making it so that when not playing digital kalimba, you don't hear their sounds if you click on the background of the main menu anyway ~Finding the patience to record 20 songs multiple times ~Finding the patience to create 17 key sprites and make them accurate lengths and give them proper positioning ~Figuring out how long the key sounds on the digital kalimba should resonate for ~Getting the sound quality to be decent and not garbage (didn't really pay off much) ~Finding a quiet room at a quiet time to record audio (SUPER hard because 2 bathrooms, a bedroom, and an office room are being redone and doors and trim are being repainted ALL AT ONCE and I made this project in my basement so I'm not bothering the workers (also there were workers outside putting tile in our new pool)) ~Wondering if I should just scrap the mouse trail feature because of the numerous challenges it brought ~Deciding whether or not to make this project at all in the beginning ~EVERYTHING ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations!
