===============SHARKWORLD============== Mobile friendly game. Press menu buttons with mouse or by tapping. Arrows also work for selecting your shark. Click and hold/drag away from your shark OR WASD/ARROW KEYS to swim! There are buttons for some actions (such as abilities), for keyboard try either the Spacebar or Z Swim into your targets to eat them. You get more hungry as you do things. If something hurts you, it will lower your hunger. Eat to replenish it, because if it runs out, you die. Don't swim into stuff that looks dangerous. Collect currencies by playing to buy bigger sharks. Each shark has three stats: JAW shows how much damage you do and what you can eat (Some prey have thicker skin). TOUGHNESS reduces the hunger depleted from injuries. METABOLISM allows you to swim faster. There are THREE locations to hunt in: Beach, Open Waters, and Arctic. They get more difficult in that order. Some prey can't be harmed if your shark is too weak, get a stronger shark first. There is no punishment for losing other than being sent back to the shark selection screen. BASIC HUNTING GUIDE : BEACH Using the controls, try to aim the end of your shark into fish to eat them! Don't bump into solid objects too much because it drains your hunger. If you swim left, you'll find the shore with some trees. You can find coconuts over there, a very easy food source. Swim right far enough, and you'll find better fish! (The brown ones give extra!) IN DEPTH \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ There are 13 sharks: Lemon Shark Galapagos Shark Bull Shark Whitetip Shark Mako Hammerhead Shark Orca (not a shark I know) Great White Shark Megalodon and the SPECIAL sharks which are entirely fictional: Ectoshark Monster Shark (Or "squid shark" as it says in the code) Gold Shark Acquire gold through fish, and gems through special means such as gem crabs at the ocean floors. ABILITIES: Speed-up increases movement speed temporarily. Power Bite unleashes a white "bite" effect that does large damage after closing. Echolocate releases a red effect that helps you see in dark places. Ultra Bite is like power bite but bigger and hits twice. Vanish makes you transparent, helping you escape predators and sneak up on prey. Whirlpool creates a spinning motion in the water that sucks predators and prey alike towards your location. Gold Rush temporarily increases your gold yield by 3x the amount. FISH AND OTHER CONSUMABLES: Each location has its own unique set of fish to hunt. Normal fish swim faster when near sharks, jump when reaching water, and vanish after hitting land. If you go deeper, fish get bigger. Bigger fish require a higher JAW level to hunt! Not all fish are easy to eat, some are more dangerous. CELESTIALS are rare, special, glowing (gold and pink) fish versions of normal fish that give more rewards. There is one COSMIC fish that being the cosmic rockfish, it appears anywhere with a 0.1% chance. It gives you a small amount of gems. Not all fish have celestial variants, such as the Lionfish. Beach: Rockfish - slow grey fish, THE most basic, can be eaten by any shark. Kelpeater - less calories than rockfish, faster too Perch - brown, larger, more calories, deeper water. Lionfish - rare, colorful, and poisons weak sharks. If you have a JAW higher than 2 you can avoid poison. Deep Perch - this is the only fish that spawns in the deep caves, has a high celestial rate. Coconut - only non-fish consumable at the beach, they appear near shore. They only give calories, no gold. Open Waters: Tuna - fast, high-calories, high-coins fish. Red Tuna - faster, bigger, stronger tuna. Returning fish includes the lionfish, deep perch, and parrotfish. Arctic coming soon! The music you hear in each level comes from the surface, if you go deeper, the music is "drowned out" - get it? Because you're underwater? Hahaha...
I Used Audiotool to make the music. Sounds are either all me or from scratch. EXCEPT https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/583711886/ The orca sounds are from the depths of the internet. (I think they're real too?) All art by me. All code by me. Game design (mostly) by me but I took inspiration from an old childhood game about playing as a shark. This was a free-style summer-themed project for a software class.
