THE LONG AWAITED: HYRULE'S LEGACY, PART 8!!!! Chapter 22 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Link~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Link strode into HMS, Zelda walking next to him. They were holding hands, and speaking quietly. "Ready for the last week before winter break?" Link asked. Zelda nodded. "So ready. These last few months have been crazy! I feel so much... older. Crazy to think we started 8th grade just back in September, huh?" "Right?" Link glanced at his watch. "7:57. We have to get to homeroom." They quickly ran down the hallway, skidding into homeroom just before the bell rang. Professor Teba looked up as Link and Zelda took their seats. "Okay class. Before we start, attendance." He rattled off the names of the students one by one. "Link?" "Here!" "Zelda?" "Here." "Sidon?" "Ready for action!" Sidon flashed his signature smile. "Ganondorf?" No response. Professor Teba looked up, and glanced around. "No Ganondorf." He continued with attendance. Link turned to Zelda as she spoke. "No Ganondorf? That's like, the third day in a row." "Maybe he's sick?" "Maybe. I don't know, though." Zelda turned back to the front as the teacher finished attendance. "So everyone, as you know, winter break is almost here..." The class erupted in cheers. Professor Teba waited until it was quiet. "That means a few things. First, the 8th grade winter dance is on Friday, as you should all know by now." Link glanced over at Zelda, and reached out to hold her hand. She did the same, and Link squeezed her hand. She squeezed back. They turned to look back at the teacher, still holding hands. "Second, most of your teachers will say this is a 'free week'. I don't care. Under no circumstances will there be shenanigans in this classroom. Am I understood?" He slowly dragged his gaze around the room. Students nodded as he looked at them. "Good. Finally, I just wanted to inform you about one final thing..." he trailed off. "The 8th grade prank war." Everyone fell silent. He reached over to a button sitting on his desk, and pressed it. Water Balloons dropped down from the ceiling, splattering down onto all the students. "Oh, and teachers are playing too." Everyone groaned, before shuffling out into the hallway as the bell rang. "Good luck!" Professor Teba called after them. Chapter 23 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Zelda~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The friend group came together outside the classroom, most of them soaking wet. Zelda was the only dry one, since Link had covered her with his jacket. He had known about the prank war, as he was its main planner. The others were all glaring at him as he stood there, cackling. "Link. Why didn't you tell us about this?" Riju demanded. "Because," he said in between laughing "The look on your faces! Priceless!" He continued laughing. Link then strode off, headed to his next class. Zelda quickly sprinted to catch up with him. "Thanks for shielding me." She said. He nodded. "No problem! Wouldn't want to ruin that gorgeous hair with some water." He smiled at her, his eyes glowing with mischief." "What do you have planned?" "You'll see." Chapter 24 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Link~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Link strode out of school that day, happy with all the pranks he had pulled. Of course, he had gotten a few pranks off on his friends. Like pie-ing Sidon in the face, or putting a whoopee cushion on Zelda's chair. Of course, he had avoided pranks so far, but it was only day one of the prank war. Things were going to heat up. As he was lost in thought, someone suddenly jumped onto his back, and covered his eyes. "Guess who?" said Zelda. Link laughed. "Hey there, Princess." He continued walking towards his motorcycle, the one he'd gotten as a birthday present from his friends and family. "How are you?" He removed her hands from his eyes so he could see where he was going, and shifted them to be hanging around his neck. Zelda rested her head on his shoulder. "I'm doing great! A little tired though. Hey, could you give me a ride home? My dad can't pick me up." She added on as an after-thought. "Sure." They arrived at the motorcycle, and Zelda hopped off Link's back so he could get on the cycle. "Here's a helmet." He handed her his helmet. "What about you?" "I'll be fine." Link jumped onto the motorcycle, and Zelda climbed on after him. She quickly strapped on the helmet before they zoomed off. Chapter 25 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Zelda~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Bye Link!" Zelda called after Link as he walked back to his bike. "See you tomorrow!" She closed the door to her house, and walked into the study, dropping off her bag. Zelda strode into the den, where her dad was chilling, watching TV. "Hey, Zelda! How was your day?" He asked as she dropped onto the couch. "Good, good. Today was the first day of the 8th grade prank war." "Ah yes, I remember that. This year should be its hundredth anniversary, so I'm sure it will be special." "Hundred years of prank war? That's crazy." He nodded. "Yup. So, be prepared for anything. (continued in notes)
So there aren't any spoilers, blank space. Scroll down a little to see the continuation. Who's the prank master this year?" "The what?" "The prank master. You know, the person in charge of the pranks." Zelda thought about that for a moment. Didn't Link say something about being the main planner? "I think it's Link. He seemed to know a lot about all the pranks going on." "Well, there you have it. Link is the prank master." "Huh." Later that afternoon Zelda lay in bed, texting Link. 'So, you're the prank master, huh?' 'Yup. Surprised?' 'Not in the slightest. It kinda suits you.' 'Thanks.' There was a brief pause in the texting before Link said something else. 'Hey, you want to watch the sunset with me?' 'Sure! I'd love to!' 'Okay. I'll come pick you up in about 30 minutes, okay?' 'Sounds good. See you in a bit! :)' Zelda placed her phone down, then grabbed a t-shirt, and pulled it on over her undershirt. She ran downstairs, and sat on the couch, waiting. 30 minutes later, the doorbell rang, and Zelda rushed to get the door. Link stood outside, two motorcycle helmets in hand. He smiled at Zelda. "Hey there, Princess. Ready to go for a ride?" He handed her one of this helmets. She turned it over, studying it. "This is beautiful!" "It's for you. To keep." Link smiled sheepishly. "Thank you! I love it!" She pulled him into a hug, then kissed him. After a few seconds, she pulled back, and said "Well, I guess we should get going." Link nodded. "Yup. Let's go! I know a great spot for sunset watching." Chapter 26 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Zelda~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As they lay in the grass underneath a willow tree, Zelda and Link watched the beautiful sunset. The sky illuminated with so many shades of orange and red. "It's beautiful." Said Zelda. "Not as beautiful as you." Link rolled over and faced Zelda. She blushed, and couldn't find the words to respond. They continued laying there in silence, comfortable in each others company. Soon though, the temperature began to drop. Zelda shivered, and Link glanced over at her. "Cold?" he asked. "A little." Zelda replied. "Wait one moment." Link got up, took off his hoodie, and gave it to Zelda. "Here. Take this." He said. "But you'll be cold." "Well, I mean, I did bring blankets. And pillows." He quickly ran to the motorcycle and came back with two pillows and lots of blankets. He gave one pillow to Zelda, and laid the other next to her's. He laid the blankets over Zelda, before lying back down next to her. He pulled the blankets up so they were covering him and Zelda. "Here we go. Plus, we'll also have each other for warmth." He reached out and pulled her into his chest. They snuggled up close, shared a kiss, and then lay together under the willow tree, gazing at the stars, until they both fell asleep. BAM! That's Part 8. I know, I've made you all wait so long, and I am incredibly sorry. I will try to get back to posting every week or so. See you in the next fanfic! Or the comments, if you so choose.
