Emily, the NWR No. 12, is a striking GNR Stirling Class 4-2-2 built at Doncaster Works as No. 1007 in March 1895. Her history took a dramatic turn during World War II when a devastating bombing raid destroyed her original GNR cab and tender; to get her quickly back into service, she was rebuilt with a modern LNER V4 cab and fitted with a massive BR Standard 9F tender. During this grim period, she wore a utilitarian, unlined NWR Wartime Black livery with simple white lettering, carrying heavy war freights with rugged resilience. Following the conflict, she was beautifully repainted into an understated NWR Unlined Green mixed-traffic livery while keeping her unique wartime silhouette. Today, she is happily married to the fiery James Jasper, providing a grounding, loyal presence to balance his proud personality on the mainline. Emily proudly wears a vibrant red bandana wrapped neatly across her front as a badge of honor. Because she is a sentient engine with a face, she receives this distinctive accessory, distinguishing her as a unique and vital character on the network. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ H for whistle
