Background: The GP40ACMT Was An Experimental Model (I Made-Up) For The GP (General Purpose) Model 40 Series GP40 Locomotive. Pseudo History: Progress Rail Decided To Experiment With The SD44ACMTE Design To See If They Could Make A Reliable Locomotive Like The SD44 But With 400 Less Horsepower So In Early 2024 PRLX Would Take 6 Brand New Fresh From The Shop SD44 Locomotive's Specifically PRLX's 4405-4411, Renumber Them And Rebuild Them Into 6 New EMD GP40ACMT's (GP=General Purpose 40=Model AC=Alternating Current MT=Modified Traction) With The Numbers 4000-4005 These 6 Units Were Almo st Identical Locomotives To Their SD44 Counterpart (Basically These Were Just 0SD44's Units Demoted) They Were Already Pre Installed With A (Made-Up) 4,400 Horsepower EMD 16-645E3M Engine (Which The Engine Was Demoted To 4,000 Horsepower And Was Given The 645E3M-D Engine Model Number), As Well As Pre Installed SD70ACe-T4 Frames, To A New HTCR-6 Truck (H=High T=Traction C=3 Axle Count R=Radial 6=Wheel Count) Design Called The HTTR-4 (H=High T=Traction T=2 Axle Count R=Radial 4=Wheel Count) (Only Difference In The Trucks Was The Subtraction Of The Middle Axle Of The Trucks), They Were Also Pre Installed With TA17/CA9 Alternators, And Pre Installed With New Positive Train Control (PTC) Functions , And Distributed Power Unit Functions (DPU) These Units Would Keep The Standard SD40-2 Cab Only Difference Being They Were Equip With Modernized Tech, And Safety Standards Of The SD70ACe-T4. However These Units Were Short Lived In Service And On August 4th, 2024 They Would Be Sent To Larry's Truck, And Electric (LTEX) For Scrapping Due To Having Reliability Issues Particularly Axle Cracking And Engine Overheating (LTEX Would Give Them The Numbers 2420-2425). In Early 2025 Deltrixiona Railroad Would Purchase LTEX's 2420-2425 Saving Them From Being Scrapped The 6 Units Would Then Be Taken To Delta Rails Shops In Chicago, IL Where The Units Would Be Patched, And Renumbered To Numbers 800 To 805, DTXR Planned To Use These Units For Parts, But Instead On June 6th, 2025 DTXR Decided To Fix The Issues With Geeps And Instead Rebuild The Six Units Into DTXR's New Exclusive Model The EMD GP40MAC-M2 (GP=General Purpose, 40=Model, MAC= Modified Alternating Current, M2= Modified-2) Or The Simpler DTXR Classification Of GP40M-2 (GP=General Purpose, 40=Model, -2=Dash 2) These Units Would Have Their Standard SD40 Cabs Removed And Put Away For Storage For Future Rebuilds And The Geeps Would Be Given Used Union Pacific SD70ACe-T4 Cabs They Would Also Replace The Very Brittle HTTR-4 Trucks With HTCR-6 Trucks Only Difference With These HTCR-6 Trucks Were That The Center Axles Were Not Powered But Merely There For Support For The Trucks To Prevent Any Future Axle Cracking. These Units Would Be Given A New DTXR Paint Scheme Called The Split Arrow. Railfans Dubbed The Units As The Arrows After The Units Were Painted The 4,000 Horsepower Units Would Be Seen On DTXR's Illinois Subdivision Which Runs Through Chicago, Watseka, And Kankakee Illinois Hauling High-Speed Intermodal Consists, Grain Hopper Consists, Auto-Part Consists, And Mixed Freight Consists. They Would Also Be Seen On DTXR's Ontario Subdivision Which Runs Through Winnipeg, Montreal, And Toronto Canada These Units Were Even Seen Leading Or Trailing As Foreign Power On Other Railroad's Like CSX, Union Pacific, Canadian National, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, And Norfolk Southern. These Units Would Be Railfan Favorites Since The Units Kept Their Original EMD 12-645E3M-D Engines (Which Were Demoted 645E3M Engines), Upgraded With Tier 4 Modifications All While Still Retaining Its Original Sound And Shape These Units Would Also Have Alternating Current Traction Essentially They Were DTXR's Version Of The UP GP40M-2, Even Though The Geeps Were Given SD70ACe-T4 Cabs, And HTCR-6 Trucks They Were Still Referred To Railroaders, And Railfans As Geeps Due The 3 Axle Trucks Technically Having Four Drive Wheels Instead Of 6 With The Middle One More Of A Support Axle.
