They happen because the ear cartilage is weaker than it is for most cats. Folded ears are caused by a genetic mutation, which can also affect cartilage all over the body. The condition is called osteochondrodysplasia - according to research, Spiritkit’s bones aren’t as strong as other cats, and she won’t be able to play as roughly as other kits. Her tail can also become really stiff. She has to check in with the medicine cats daily because her ears can get infected if the ear wax isn’t cleaned.
