Amber's POV: I watched as Athena came over to me. She was looking around, as though to make sure no one was following her. "Hello!" She said, taking the seat next to me. "You sit...way over here? There's no body within a mile?!" "That's an exaggeration. There's a table right over there." Athena giggled a little bit. "You are fun Amber!" I watched her for a moment. Under her huge smile, she seemed to be hiding something. Just like me. "Is something wrong...Athena??" "What?! Oh, not really, I just...well nevermind. Let's keep talking, you are fun to hang out with!" "Thanks....I guess...." It was then, I noticed something I hadn't before. She wore a friendship bracelet, the ones that best friends wear. You know, where they each take one, but the second one was tied to her backpack. I wonder why? "Athena....who are all those inklings over there? I thought you liked hanging out with them?" "Well.....I used to Amber, but they aren't really nice to me....they treat me like a....well....I don't know a good comparison. It's really strange, they always make me do everything they don't want to do. I feel sort of left out..." "I know what you mean....I feel left out a lot." I watched as Athena's eyes turned from me to the group of kids playing soccer. "I want to be in their group, but I'm not sure I can." "But, you are so popular, don't they like you?" "Not for who I am, but rather what I'll do!" "Huh?!" "Well, nobody else would share their homework answers with anyone else. Nor take the blame for the groups faults. I'm just tired of being the odd member." "I'll be your friend..." I said, without really thinking. She turned toward me, and I saw hers eyes widen. "W-what? Really?!" She seemed to brighten up again. "You're so sweet! I'd love to be your friend! Can....we be besties?" "Uhhhh....I guess....?" "Yayy!" She suddenly looked from me to the bracelet on her back pack. "Take this, it shows we are bff's." I smiled as I looked over the neatly woven design. "Thanks Athena."
