I stare at the message. It'd be rude of me to just ignore it. But I'm also supposed to be doing my Spanish Try It right now... Should I just say no? But that would mean that Kate would virtually gang up on me later... /Argh/, fine. I'll very BRIEFLY meet Kate on the doc. I pop on and, sure enough, see her skittle there. She types: ᴏʜ ʜᴀɪ ʏᴜᴍɴ. ᴅɪᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ʏᴏᴜ'ᴅ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ. I stare at it once again, then type: ɪ'ᴍ ᴋɪɴᴅ ᴏғ sᴜᴘᴘᴏsᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ᴅᴏɪɴɢ sᴏᴍᴇ sᴘᴀɴɪsʜ ᴡᴏʀᴋ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ɴᴏᴡ. I switch to the work I'm supposed to be doing, but unfortunately, I'm good at Spanish. So I finish it in a few minutes. I click onto the broadcast chat again. Kate typed a few messages. ᴋʙ: ᴡᴇʟʟ ᴡᴀɴɴᴀ ʀᴘ ʟᴀᴛᴇʀ? ? *sɪᴛs ʜᴇʀᴇ ᴋᴡɪᴇᴛʟʏ ᴡᴀɪᴛɪɴɢ ғᴏʀ ᴀ ʀᴇsᴘᴏɴsᴇ* Kate seriously needs to work on her grammar. Or spelling or whatever. "Wanna RP later?" She asks me this /every single day/. We have a doc, me, Layla, and Kate, that we RP warrior cats on in our free time. But I stopped a while ago because Kate always needed the RP to go /her/ way. I type firmly: ɴᴏ, ᴛʜᴀɴᴋ ʏᴏᴜ. ɪ'ᴍ ᴘʀᴇᴛᴛʏ sᴜʀᴇ ɪ ʟᴇғᴛ ᴀ ᴍᴇssᴀɢᴇ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴏᴄ ғᴏʀ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛᴏ sᴇᴇ. Kate: ᴏʜ. ᴏᴋ. I close the tab and then realize I have nothing to do. Oh, well. I'll just check on Yunus, then. * * * It's lunch break, and I wolf down my naan and curry while checking the broadcast chat. Then Layla pops on. I eagerly type, ʜɪ ʟᴀʏʟᴀ! A pause. Layla replies: ʜᴇᴡᴏ :3 YI: ʜᴏᴡ's sᴄʜᴏᴏʟ ɢᴏɪɴɢ ғᴏʀ ʏᴏᴜ? ɪ ᴊᴜsᴛ ɢᴏᴛ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏғ ᴇʟᴀ. LS: ɴᴏᴛ ʙᴀᴅ, ʙᴜᴛ ᴍʏ sᴘᴀɴɪsʜ sᴡʏᴋ ɢᴏᴛ ᴀ ᴄ :| YI: ᴏᴏᴏғ. ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ sᴘᴀɴɪsʜ sᴇᴄᴏɴᴅ ᴘᴇʀɪᴏᴅ, ʀɪɢʜᴛ? ɪ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ɪᴛ ғɪʀsᴛ. LS: ʏᴇᴘ! :3 I pause for a moment and am about to type something, but Layla is already typing: LS: ᴅɪᴅ ᴜ sᴇᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴇssᴀɢᴇ ɪ ʟᴇғᴛ ғᴏʀ ᴋᴀᴛᴇ? :ᴘ I'm surprised... YI: ɴᴏ...ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ɪs ɪᴛ? LS: ɢᴏ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ "ᴜɴʀᴇʟᴀᴛᴇᴅ" ᴛᴀʙ. YI: ᴀʟʀ. I click to the "Unrelated" tab on the doc. Sure enough, there is a message for Kate, in big, bold text: ᴋᴀɪᴛ...ᴡᴇ ᴀʀᴇɴ'ᴛ ғʀɪᴇɴᴅs ᴀɴʏᴍᴏʀᴇ ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜsᴇ ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ ʙᴇɪɴɢ ᴍᴇᴀɴ ᴀɴᴅ ᴏᴘᴘʀᴇssɪᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴇ. ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ sᴛᴏᴘ sᴀʏɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴡᴇ'ʀᴇ ғʀɪᴇɴᴅs. ɪ'ᴍ sᴏʀʀʏ, ʙᴜᴛ ᴛʜɪs ɪs ғᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴇsᴛ... - ʟᴀʏʟᴀ I linger on it for a moment. Were all my problems solved, just like that? Nope. It doesn't work that way. But this is a start.
