(read this first: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1309583474/ ) So. Three Years. Wow. I remember being so excited to start my own comic. So proud of my story and art and all that stuff. If young Luna could see me now, huh? I love the story I came up with, despite all its little quirks and plot holes. The characters, designs, all of it. But there's also so much I want to change. So today, I'm going to share the small things I would tweak if I were to do a reboot! -TundraClan- Snowstorm is absolutely perfect as she is, and I wouldn't portray her in any other way. However, it seems a lot like her relationship with Moonheart is unrequited at first. Well, it isn't. She just sucks at romance and knowing the difference between it and close friendships. As for Moonheart, I want to cut out Frostleaf's prophecy. He's just an emo baby who at first thinks Snowstorm is a brat (one-sided rivalry lol) but over time gets to know her and starts to feel for her. I'd also like to expand on Coldgaze. He's essentially the same- isolated, apathetic, gay as crap. So I'd just add a little more story for him. Frostleaf is my all-time favorite, and I don't think she got nearly enough love. So she would receive more Foxflight interactions basically <3 -ForestClan- Originally, I think I'd planned on Birchfern being a sort of Mary Sue-type character. Now, however, I see that she is far from that. And I don't like the character I ended up with. But rather than trying to perfect that character, I'd rather expand on it. The reason why Birchfern is so unlikable is because she's absolutely awful to the people who hurt her, even if it's an accident, right? So, I give it a reason. She was a brat. Being the deputy's daughter, she often saw everything handed to her on a silver platter. After becoming an apprentice, it kind of stopped, but she still expected things to go her way. So naturally she's a lil mean when it doesn't. I think I'd also change Mosstuft's reason for not dating Birchfern. The Northern Clans' rules are different from the OGs', so it doesn't make sense. Instead, Birchfern just felt betrayed because she thought Mosstuft WANTED to be a warrior. She could have become one, too, just with some changes to her training. So she was just confused and had to review exactly how she felt about Birchfern. Also I would fix Honeystar. She's not exactly "dumb," just challenged academically. Also really innocent and a baby who has no idea how she became leader. And ofc I'd like to expand on Mintbreeze. They need love too <3 -DesertClan- I really just want to give Viperfang more character here. He had little to no interaction with the DF, and that should've been a huge part of his character. So obviously, more of that. Making him transgender was a bit of a spur of the moment thing, an afterthought. So I'd add more hinting at it throughout the series as he learns about himself. And finally, I would give him a slight crush on Snowstorm. Just at the beginning of the series, but still. If you've watched A New Bloom, you know the two of them get together. This is because Viperfang grew up with Sky, rather than meeting her on the farm, and he has a specific type (has to be someone he meets later and changes his life for the better, also confident personality and blue eyes UwU) So yeah. But he still ends up with Sky obviously. -FireClan- I mostly just want to make it so Emberscorch doesn't just randomly start liking Redwing. Because that's not how relationships work. Instead, there was always a spark! As kits, they were essentially besties. They grew up in delusion, Emberscorch thinking her parents were a happy couple and Redwing thinking his were decent people. And because of that, they were innocent, and in fact childhood sweethearts. No seriously, they literally invited the entire Clan to their wedding and would pretend the younger kits were their babies. It was hilarious. However, when Burntrose and Foxsnout split and Brokenheart died, that delusion faded. And then Blazestar and her intense training drew Emberscorch away from Redwing. But when the exile happened, the two of them finally were able to talk things out. And ye. -Afterlife- No big changes, just some more lore dumps. But we got some of that in The Dawn of Us, so we're good. -Other- Literally just more on Sky and Bird. But no major changes. So yeah, that's basically it. You may consider these canon. I would like to do a reboot potentially, but first, I'll just focus on other things to do with Shadows Rising. Which brings me to the next topic: the future. I have so many more SR comics that I want to write to fill up the void. At least three. And I'm excited to work on them. Of course, I'm not just talking about the little side plots. No, I've got something bigger planned. A brand-new story. A brand-new comic. A brand-new series. My beloved comrades, I present to you... AN UNNAMED SHADOWS RISING PREQUEL COMIC!!! (cont)
(cont hahaha) That's right! If you read The Dawn of Us, you've already gotten a taste of what's to come, but it's SO MUCH BIGGER THAN THAT. This story is set in the years leading up to The Dawn of Us, as well as the five moons between Dawnwing's birth and her actual story. That's right! It's the official story of how the Northern Clans came to be! If you enjoyed Foreststar in TDoU, you'll love this story. It's chock-full of that little gremlin! Compared to Shadows Rising, this will be a heck lot more planned out so I don't leave as many plot holes. There will be lore, funnies, and amazing characters, all fully thought through beforehand. You don't want to miss it. Although, a heads-up first: it won't be colored. Not the way Shadows Rising was, at least. But not plain gray either. There will be full-page frames, and each scene will have a different palette. Ever seen, say, an EPIC! animatic by Gigi? It'll be a bit like that. But I will have fully colored references as well as side projects (pmvs, animation memes, etc) so you know what they look like. The comic... still doesn't have a name. And I still need to plan it out. But I hope to have the prologue out by the fall, so stay tuned! And thank you so, so, SO much for reading my story. It means so much to me. Happy Shadows Rising Anniversary, and see you soon!
