(English isn't my native language) I started working on this in April 28th, so I just decided to finish it, instead of starting again, after I heared the new theme. I couldn't find the official lyrics of the song. Historical context, might be inaccurate... most likely is: (I didn't want to look at my sources again, so at the first part I'm just going to write, what I have noted in my Word Document and what I can quickly find on Wikipedia.) So, the "Treaty of Tordesillas" divided the not-European world between Spain and Portugal. The Spanish really wanted the Moluccas (a archipelago in eastern Indonesia), but it was on the Portuguese side, so they decided to find a western route to the islands. Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer, lead an expidition (for the Spanish), which started with five ships, but two of them got destroyed. They arrived somewhere in the east of the Philippines in 1521 (I think accidentally). The Spanish (not all of them were Spanish, but it's just easier for me, too call Magellans expidition so) made alliances with local leaders (for example Rajah Humabon, from Cebu) and converted people to christianity. Rajah Humabon kinda forwarded the order to the other nearby leaders, but Lapulapu, a datu of Mactan, didn't follow it. So Humabon (and probably the other Datu of Mactan, Zula) suggested Magellan to take his ships to Mactan to force Lapulapu to submit. The battle was fought in the morning on April 27th 1521. Magellans boats couldn't approach near, because of rocks. Magellan took with him about 60 men, while on the side of Lapulapu were about 1500. In the beginning of the battle, the two sides just sh0t each other for about half an hour (not for 4 seconds like in my animation) (the natives using bows) until the musk3ts got discharged. Then the Spanish set some houses on fire, what made the natives more upset. Magellan got shot by a poisoned arrow in his right leg, later called his forces to retreat. The natives mainly attacked Magellan and after he got wounded in the arm and then his left leg, he fell over and was k!lled. Lapulapu is considered as the first national hero of the Philippines and is belived to have delayed the Spanish dominance of the Philipinnes by forty years. Intentional inaccuracies in animation: So on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lapulapu#cite_note-8 there is a citation from https://opinion.inquirer.net/112710/lapu-lapu-national-hero "In European historical records, Lapu-Lapu is invisible. No one of those who were involved in the Battle of Mactan and its surrounding events in 1521, and left behind a written record, actually saw him, knew what he looked like, heard him speak (his recorded words of defiance and pride are all indirect, reported speech), or mentioned that he was present in the battle that made him famous." The animation is mainly inspired by Antonio Pigafetta's Journal (whatever it's called) and as you see, Lapulapu happens to be on some frames, including the last ones, where Magellan dies(, where it probably makes the least sense him to be). It's because - first: I found it out later, and second: it would kind of be "rude" to not include Lapulapu, since he was a quiet important person for this battle. Also the map (dark purple, at the beginning), although they didn't have modern maps back then, I'm too lazy to find an other.
