Space/click Life cycle: ——————————————————————— Lifespan: ——————————————————————— Behavior: Stone bugs generally ignore other lifeforms while alone, however, if in groups they will attempt to either swarm or ambush prey. Their typical targets are generally within the 50 - 100lbs weigh class. And the number of creatures they will attempt to hunt scale with the size of the pack. Stone bugs are also extremely territorial and commonly war with other bug colonies. ————— current observations made, by may 15th - 16th 2032. Reproduction: ——————————————————————— Castes: ——————————————————————— Habitat(s): Stone bugs are generally located in areas with high mineral deposits in soil or water. They likely need these minerals to generate and maintain their rock like shells(will be expanded on later). Danger to expeditions: 5.6/10 thus far, they can be easily avoided by staying away from their hives, and by setting up bases in areas such as plains. As they heavily rely on ambush tactics for successful hunts. However if you are ambushed, it’s best to try and get onto a hard to Reach area such as a tree. Their peg like legs have minimal grip and are best suited for digging and penetration of flesh. Other important facts: Stone bugs usually have a rock like shell covering their backs, the top of their heads, and the top of their abdomen. Along with some plates on their legs, these shells vary in mineral content depending on the area of the colony. This means there is no standard method for dealing with them as their shells could be brittle or extremely durable. So it’s best to retreat if you are swarmed, however their fleshy undersides are extremely vulnerable. So setting up traps is an effective method of neutralization. Stone bug meat is also edible, although their abdomen does store a poisonous compound which is distributed through their bloodstream. Meaning preparation of stone bug meat should have all parts of their cardiovascular system removed. Stone bugs can also be an excellent source of minerals such as iron. Although they can store heavy metals and other dangerous materials, meaning they should be tested prior to consumption.
