My house is on fire and is being burnt to the ground. The whole streets are on fire. In the sky, the monster is there again. Bodies are on the floor. My biological family’s, my new family’s, Blake’s, mine… I look up at the figure. He drifts down to a mountain in the distance. I run to him, knowing I’d never reach him. “What did you do?!” I yell. I know I can’t communicate with them. This isn’t real. As the image fades away, I put my hand out and suddenly I can’t move. Everything fades away and I’m just standing there, frozen. Then I wake up, on the ground, and get up. Then I can’t help but ask the spirit, “Who are you?” “Iris,” she responds. “Or, at least, that was the name my parents named me. When I was a human.” “All ghosts were humans,” I whisper, trying to spark an idea in my mind. Then I speak loud enough for her to hear me. “Hold on, so, you were once a human. How do you know about this? Can ghosts see into the future?” “No.” she frets. “Lots of people in the past, including me, have been told about this, except it wasn’t as close. We had more time. But now, when it came to you, it’s coming closer than we expected. You have to save the world quicker.” “Wait,” I pause. “Was my mom told about this? Is that how she died? What about my father? And sister?” “Slow down,” she chuckles. “Your mom, yes, she was told about it. She died trying to save the world. The figure got to her before she could get to it. It’s only reserved for females, so, no, your father wasn’t told about it. The figure was afraid that others would get the message about the end of the world, so it killed anybody related to your mother.” “Then why didn’t it kill me?” I ask. Then Iris looks concerned and disappears. “Hello! Iris!” I run away from the police station and to home, but when I go to open the door, I can’t. So then, I pant, trying not to cry, and run away from home. Into the streets. Just like when my family died. Now I’m more determined to get this figure. It kills my family, I kill it.
