Something I keep seeing again and again and again online is people saying "why don't Americans do anything about what's happening with their government?" and to that I say, what the hell do you expect me to do. try protesting? pfft as if, the government doesn't care about protests, best case scenario your ignored, worst case scenario your tear gassed, or shot at, or forced to run off. try rioting? your just tarnishing your causes image and probally making the situation worse, not even talking about how thats basically begging to get disbanded or attacked by police forces. try revolting or rebelling? yeah lets get the national guard involved too huh? have them occupy my city and commit brutal acts? try voting? that could work if my vote actually mattered, most people don't live in a region where there vote matters because its automatically going to go one state or another, only like 5% of Americans actually live in a place where elections are actually competitive, and I don't live in that 5% I live in freaking Missouri. cause the thing is, the government doesn't care about us, its basically just a one party state pretending to be 2, with each party only existing because of the other, both fighting relentlessly to crush third parties and absorb their platforms so they don't stand a chance. hell I expect in 28 the Dems are just gonna ruin everything they've been building up and put freaking gavin newsom as a candidate or something and basically just make everything worse, because frankly the establishment controls basically everything political, and to them the peoples voice or will doesn't really matter at all, hell this sentiment even hits close to home, a majority of Missourians voted to legalize the right to choose but then the state COMPLETELY IGNORED IT AND MADE IT ILLEGAL ANYWAYS, and yknowhat?? nobody's gonna be held accountable because the day a rep is voted out of office in Missouri is the same day pigs fly.
