May be disturbing for younger ages.... (The following project was made because stuff is about to happen, and this is a background project) Shields City, a truly amazing civilization which seceded peacefully from Mothron in 2031. Despite a low population of 1,385,416 people, Shields City has 19 Nuclear weapons, and has possibily the most disiciplined and powerful army on the entire continent, making them a force to be truly reckoned with. Yet I feel that people have hardly a clue of culture in this intriguing civilization, so this project is for those who want to learn more about cultures and lore. Geography: As stated multiple times, Shields City and the surrounding towns which make up the nation is in the mountain range of the Shields Mountains. The main city is on a massive plateau with treacherous cliffs thousands of feet above the ground. Other districts and smaller towns are on the peaks of surrounding mountains, which is normally reached from the main city through simple suspension bridges, from which one could fall off down thousands of feet down to either be oofed, or severely injurred. Culture: Entering Shields City is almost like entering another world. Homes there are not modern, but are rather tribal huts with no AC. This in no way however makes the people of Shields City primitive. Government and Military buildings are air conditioned, and have modern conveniences. Additionally, the population does have access to automobiles, most of them in fact more modern than those in Mothron, being electrically powered in nature, despite their "primitive homes" The people of Shields City, though embracing modern technology are resistant to major change. As with the way they make homes, military life is far different than in other nations. In the education system for men, military training is a mandatory course. Elementary School: - Basic teachings of military concepts, and students often wrestle each other, in attempts to prove themselves in society. - In older Elementary grades, nerf guns are used as practice. Middle School: - This is the middle stage in military training. When Middle School begins, students learn how to use real guns. They also learn effective guerilla warfare tactics and learn martial arts. High School: - This is the final stage of military training. In this stage, through Freshman to Seniors, students learn expert warfare tactics, which make them unrivalled to many other (perhaps even all) militaries in the continent. Also, with parental permission, students as young as 14 can join the military (although this obviously is rare). Even as 14 year olds, their years of military education makes them formidable warriors. After School: - After High School, military training is complete. Though there is College, many men do not attend it because of the sober truth of the culture that being a warrior is as sacred for men as motherhood is for women. That doesn't mean they don't have other jobs, like other modern societies, but if war rises they leave those jobs for women to handle, and they themselves go on the field of battle, needing no additional training. Since this has been going on for a thousand years, it is a brutally shrewd strategy. History (Brief and summarized): 978 - With King Stauron rising in the East, conquering dozens of tribes in a matter of weeks with his superior military might, survivors from the tribes fled to the Shields City mountain range. 1000 - By this time, 2,750,000 refugees already live in villages across the mountain range. They only chose to live in such a treacherous place to ensure their survival. 1212 - Smithson, a Monk in the Monk Council was kicked out for using his political power for his own gain. Smithson with his private army managed to ascend the treacherous mountains (though hundreds lost their footing and fell off). The villages were conquered, and Smithson made plans to make himself Monk again. 1221 - But Smithson is deposed, and the League of Nations, specifically the nation Trog forcibly occupies the mountain range. At this time, these villages are now considered districts by the Monk Council of one city, Shields City. 1821 - After 600 years of Mayors from the League ruling, a Military General by the name of Ferdinand took over. But even then, Shields City is still part of the League, and the League does nothing to stop Ferdinand. 1823 - Ferdinand abdicates after 2 years because he finds politics to be a much more boring life than the military. He instead makes his brother Military General Mateo the leader. This began a period of time where many Military Generals would rise and fall, overthrowing their predecessors in Coups. 1852 - The Red Hills civilization begins a war against Shields City. Though the war was brutal, the League did nothing to save Shields City. Continued in Notes and Credits:
Me Pixabay Continued form above: 1859 - After 7 years of war, General Brackon defeats the Red Hills civilization, and finally the war ends. Following the war, the people of Shields City demand secession, since the apathetic Monk Council did nothing to help them even amidst the Red Hills Civilization breaking international laws. But the current leader, Military General Antonio refused. This was not because he was fond of the League, but because he feared that if they seceded, that the League would declare war on them. So Antonio and all the other Generals refused, excluding a certain young General, Brackon. Brackon saw an opportunity to seize power, and when Antonio was overthrown, Shields City seceded, trying to become a democracy. Brackon was made President, but Brackon personalized the constitution to fit his own needs, thus becoming a dictator. Yet unlike those before him, he would not be overthrown by mere coups. Brackon renamed Shields City, Brackondome after himself. 1890 - Brackon ruled for 31 years, much longer than any of the Military Generals before him. But after the death of his wife and son that same year, Brackon viewed it as judgment from God. So thus, Brackon wrote a book, known as Confessions. Brackon sought to leave Brackondome, but Johnathan Ug oofed him, and Brackondome surrendered. Thus the war ended, though Johnathan Ug went further south to destroy Ugtown. Meanwhile in Shields City, a General from the League named Ahmed came. But population decline began. 1891 - Ahmed ruled for one year, but then he peacefully left and thus began the rules of Mayors in Shields City once again, though under control of the League. 1988 - With the Mega-Civil War beginning with First and Second Generals establishing Jundokron in the South to battle the League in the North, Shields City managed to become more independent. Throughout the war, Shields City remained a power unconquered by both sides, and one which fought both sides of the conflict. If not for its superior military to Jundokron and the League, it would have fallen. 1991 - With the end of the Mega Civil War, Second Sokron arose. Shields City became a semi-autonomous city, in a deal with Sogran. Because of this deal, Shields City became the center of many military experiments. The Necro-Craft Adminstration began, a military program creating mysterious aircraft in Shields City. 1994 - The First Drone was created in the laboratories of Shields City by Dr. Fenrir, a Sogranist Scientist who was also a mastermind from Shields City. Drones from that point on were used in classified military operations against the rebels, including the Necro-Crafts. 2029 - With the end of Sokron, Shields City was still a place where Sogranism simmered. Cyrus II, a descendant of both the Ugs and the Bonapartes attempted to make a Third Sokron, almost conquering even Mothron. But UE, New Tundra, and Mothron (and possibly others if I'm forgetting other people), worked together to defeat them. UE bombed Shields City, and millions perished. Yet a million souls still survived the bombings. As for Cyrus II, we pursued him across the treacherous bridges, and he met his end, and tumbled down the cliffs, oofed forever. Shields City was freed, and its population was traumatized both by Third Sokron and by Mothron and its allies. 2031 - Once again, secession was called for. Mayor Sigurd was elected, and he made Shields City secede from Mothron. War almost arose, but King Mothos managed to negotiate a deal with the war weary 86 year old Sigurd. 2032 - Yet now, Sigurd lies deathly sick in bed. It seems his son Vice-mayor Erik may take power, yet where will this lead Shields City. Erik is not as war-weary as his father, and he has hard feelings against Mothron. If Sigurd dies of old age, and Erik becomes Mayor, can peace be kept? Or will war once again unleash in this crazy war torn region of northern Aussiland? Conclusion: So now I hope this gives you guys a better understanding.
