؂✧ ✦ redesign for @-WaveWind- —————-————-———-—-—— -— - This is a bit less polished than what’s usually on this acc imo but I wanted to get out of the habit of posting on my alt instead of here,, it’s been over 3 months already BUT HEY here it is!! first project in a while :’) My main account isn’t officially undead yet since I still haven’t gotten full time to spend drawing, but I’ll probably still be posting sometimes on my alt I’m also planning to switch gears to more oc oriented content but we’ll just have to see how that goes ahahahh,, I’ve been planning to do so for a while but that hasn’t gotten far at all ദ്ദി(╥﹏╥) Anyways about the actual piece!! This is a redesign of a nearly 3 year old design I made in one of my very old OTAs, with permission from their current owner :D The art itself is pretty self explanatory (details are clarified further down in the desc) but the whole reference of the redesign is flatcolor (no shading, though I did ‘overpaint’ a bunch to clean up things,, chest fur is just one color despite some other colors being almost present) and the color palette is in the bottom left. I tried to keep her personality (at least what I can gather from the reference that her owner drew her) in mind while drawing her and that was honestly really fun haha, especially since along the process I had to mostly just stick with my headcanons on her, which is her appearance as gentle/regal looking outwardly, hinting at her maybe ‘fragile’ name of Floe (also given by her owner which I absolutely love aa) meaning a floating sheet of ice/in some variations, ‘flower’. On the flip side, the name could be seen as its huge geographical feature that it as a term describes, hinting at a more frigid, intimidating or mysterious..? personality perhaps :0 I also got this impression from the reference that her owner drew her (which displayed her with an ability to form sharp ice crystals whenever she’s aggravated). I added the long fur and flowing cloth-like stuff hanging from the ear tufts and tail (mimicking an aurora) to portray the more gentle + regal appearance while the eyes are supposed to be pitch black/planned to have no light in them at all to portray depths of icebergs/to portray the flip side, but that isn’t really portrayed in the reference I made. Holy yap sobbing but that’s basically most of my lines of thought I had while redesigning her! I would’ve added in an extra bust/rendered art as well but I have other priorities that I really need to get to doing instead (I’m also going to be gone very very soon for like half a month so a lot of my plans here will be postponed if I don’t finish now :’) I gotta wrap up any art I have left) But anyways I hope you like it Atlas! I had a blast working on this ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´- ✦ Design notes (really long I’m so sorry but it clarifies things in the ref that probably needs to be clarified :’D) - fur is frozen into the large ice crystals on face and can be seen inside of them - Large ice crystals on face are like thick ice flakes that protrude from the fur on the face. They might have ice crystal textures inside of them (like ice crystals forming on a bubble) or can fully be smooth ice - ice crystals/icicles and flowy aurora can either be opaque or transparent and actually looking like ice, reference has mostly no transparency/is fully opaque so colors are accurate - Aurora can act just like cloth or be a legitimate aurora, which cannot interact with surroundings and kinda just phases through (like light would) - Aurora ‘cloth’ or ‘streaks’ are attached to the fluff on top of the ears. Just to be clear, it doesn’t detach in the reference and is not connected anywhere else on the head. It just flows behind the head and might be frozen like that, but that’s really up to you ^^ - Aurora in the ref I imagine is ‘animated’ in a way where it flows like it’s not an actual solid object, splitting occasionally in random places and moving regardless of wind or absence thereof - some icicles are frozen at the bottom of the chest/belly, hanging off of half frozen long pieces of fur - claws are frozen at their tips and perpetually unsheathed unlike a usual cat’s claws - supposed to have rex cat fur but I don’t think I can draw that very accurately,, they have long curly fur as shown in reference for now - Tail is fully the darkest color in the design’s color palette with some streaks of teal/green at the top ends - Fur is overgrown and potentially pretty tangled, especially on the tail, tips of ears, face, chest/belly, and back legs - Ears might be blue ice inside or just colored that way - Eyes/iris can become very pitch black when extremely aggravated maybe all design details are ofc subject to change and not required, any of them can be excluded/adjusted to liking !
