An extremely ambitious defense program that was developed by DARPA and Lockheed Martin from 2011-2025. It has taken ~$9 billion USD to procure, and has experienced multiple setbacks since the integration of AI with systems of the USV military. It costs $34,700 per unit, with the VLS socket costing $15,278,000. It is a 4x4 (16-cell) ultra-light, small-diameter missile and aircraft interceptor designed to fit within a single Mk41 VLS. It has a max speed of Mach 3.7, and a maximum overload of 40 G. An estimated 40,000 are stockpiled; and no, it is not for sale. Procurement was declassified in March 2025.
