(SPOILER WARNING!!! if you haven’t seen up until episode 8 of TADC, please look away, or at least stop at the other warning in notes and credits. Or spoil it for yourself if you really want to. Be my guest, do what you want lol)
The Amazing Digital Circus is a popular indie show by Glitch Productions and Gooseworx. Most everyone who knows the series knows that, right? But there’s a thing about the show that just… pushes my buttons a bit, to put it lightly, and it isn’t the show itself. And it’s something that I think a lot of fans/spectators don’t even realize they’re doing. TADC is still a show, yall. And I know, you may be reading that and be thinking, “Well… duh.” Which, fair. But also, throughout the series as more episodes have been released, especially since this last one, episode 8, people have been throwing around topics that, if a new person stumbles on the series, could spoil the whole show for them, and I don’t like the idea of that. There are many topics in the show that fit under this category, but I will only list a few. (SPOILER WARNING!!! Below are some examples of spoilers for the series and if you don’t want to be spoiled for the show please don’t read further! Come back when you’ve seen up to episode 8 if you’re really that dedicated to read the whole thing.) Alright, finished watching? Here are some examples of spoiler issues. -Caine’s “finale” -Ragatha’s.. interesting childhood (a lesser spoiler, but still enough to be mentioned) -Ribbit, Kaufmo, Scratch, Queenie, etc. -Kinger’s… “admin privileges” Those are the main ones that come to mind. And after episode 8 especially, people have just been throwing these around (especially the first one rahh) like it’s common knowledge, when in reality, for those who aren’t caught up to ep 8, it spoils the mood for the 7 episodes before it. And I don’t like the idea of that, as I’ve stated previously. I have a friend who I’ve introduced TADC to, who I will refer to as Cinnamon. Cinnamon hasn’t started watching the show yet, and I’ve tried my best to not spoil stuff for her, while answering some questions she had. Mostly the “worst” thing about the series that (i think) Cinnamon knows spoiler-wise is that the cast members can’t leave the circus. Not too bad, right? Well, what if Cinnamon so happened to see a piece of media about Caine’s “finale?” Now Cinnamon can’t fully enjoy the show, since she already knows about what happens to Caine and therefore the humor and plot will be removed of their “fresh-out-of-the-box” feeling. It’s quite simple, really. But what makes it interesting is that with any other piece of media, this logic is already in place, and (for the most part,) people try to avoid spoiling the show/book/etc for the person watching/reading/etc it. So why not for TADC?? Luckily, some people have realized this and tried to avoid spoiling things for newcomers, which is good, but a good chunk of the community has failed to realize this concept. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but please. Someone help me understand why people don’t understand this- Thank you for your time :3 (also ik i went a bit overkill with the spoiler warnings, but i dont like seeing things spoiled for ppl so-)
