First thing I thought when I saw August was that he looked like someone who would absolutely love to explore the world [TABLE OF CONTENTS]: 0. ART DISCRIPTIONS 1. CHARACTERS 2. ABOUT THE WORLD [WIP] 3. EXTRA ───────────────────────── [ART DISCRIPTIONS]: 1- Petra on a lil adventure~ 2- [Semi-finished] Moran combing Petra's hair in preparation for a festival (Apologies in advance, when I draw guys, they end up looking like girls 90% of the time, I like giving everyone lashes ok ToT) 3- Concept art for Petra 4- Concept art for Moran ───────────────────────── [CHARACTERS]: [PETRA] (August) Petra is a free spirit, he loves the feeling of constant motion, travel, and exploration. The only place he ever stops for longer then a day is the orphanage he himself and his best friend, Moran, grew up in. Seemingly timid, Petra is actually just not a fan of small talk with most people. Although when pushed into it, he isn't afraid to voice his brutally honest thoughts... loudly. On his travels, he will pick up trinkets from all across the land to bring back to show Moran (who now works at the orphanage) and the fawns. Sometimes it's a perfectly polished handful of stones from a small stream, sometimes it's a small jar of dried flowers from a deep cliff cavern. Sometimes he will even bring back injured animals in hopes that Moran can patch them up. Five words that describe Petra best: Curious, Honest, Peaceful, Independent, Protective [MORAN] Moran is never without a task at hand, always one to put others before himself. But despite his kind nature, people often get the wrong idea from his appearance. As a fawn, he suffered a head injury that left him with only one horn and the inability to freely move his facial muscles, making it difficult for him to make expressions and talk (so he usually doesn't). Because of this, others from beyond the village are often wary or disrespectful. However, he's never lonely with the crowd of fawns that trail after him everyday around the village. He always looks forwards to his best friend's visits, preparing days beforehand to make sure Petra gets a big meal, warm bath, and soft sheets to tuck into the moment he's home. Five words that describe Moran best: Selfless, Gentle, Hardworking, Proactive, Patient [FARADAY] "Fairy" Director of the orphanage and big sister of the village chief, Faraday (AKA "Fairy" to the kids) is as tough as she is kind. She has all the patience in the world for her family and friends, but will not tolerate nonsense that crosses the lines. Faraday has a very versatile set of hands. She goes around the village and does everything from fixing roofs and paving new pathways to sewing baby clothes and whipping up her "world famous" candied apple pocket pies to hand out. She is far stronger then she appears and can probably bench press an elephant with ease. Five words that describe Faraday best: Reliable, Steady, Loving, Patient, Strong [RION] Rion is an orphan with strange features who was found deep in the woods by Petra on on of his outings. Terrified, injured, and mistrustful, he kicked and screamed the entire time as Petra rushed him back to the village. When they arrived in a panic, Moran was the first to notice the chaos and help. Overtime, although still very skittish, Rion has settled well into life in the village. He sticks to Moran like glue and always sends glares at Petra (not quite ready to forget being carried like a sack of potatoes through the woods when they first met) Five words that describe Rion best: Impulsive, Cautious, Sensitive, Protective, Compassionate (selectively) [ABOUT THE WORLD]: [WIP] - Everyone has antlers or horns. Sometimes due to differing customs, the two clash with one another. (Detail: True horns and antlers are different, antlers will shed and grow back yearly!) - The bigger and more well kept one's horns/antlers are, the more respect it tends to garner. By the same logic, worn, chipped, or broken ones are seen (especially by older people) as a sign of irresponsibility and bad luck. In some regions with strict laws, breaking off horns/antlers and preventing regrowth is a form of punishment. [EXTRA]: - Moran once wanted to cut his hair to save money on soap but the fawns burst into tears and begged him not to because they loved braiding it so much - Petra often claims he's taller then Moran because of his antlers, but he's oddly quiet about it when his antlers shed... - Moran carries around a sketchbook to write down words he can't speak and draw the expressions he can't make - Faraday knits everyone in the orphanage a scarf, many (including Petra and Moran) find themselves wearing it even after they've grown up. She also reworks clothes she makes for the kids to fit them when they're older as a part of their outfit. - The first thing Rion did when he met Moran was bite his hand, it ended up leaving a small scar that Rion often feels guilty about.
