Throughout the rest of 1936 following elections, most - if not all - policies have been enacted purely to gather public support. Surprisingly, most of it involves industry, but further mass-scale industrialization is a huge point of contention in both Pälysovia and Rønnd. -PÄLYSOVIA- In Pälysovia, factories are the present and the future! Huge industrial complexes spring up constantly alongside the numerous existing ones, bringing with it economic promise and brand new exports. However, simultaneously, the Pälysovs don't want to see themselves fall into a cycle of poor working conditions, and at least want the government and law to keep pace. Therefore, the race for mass industrialization is a steady balance, a compromise between the businesses and the workers. The Maroons (conservatives), in turn, have pushed for the construction of huge factory complexes across more urban areas, leaving rural areas to their own devices. While any worker laws haven't been passed yet, the Maroons promise them by New Year's. This promise has seemed to quell any unrest for now, but in the case that these promises come empty-handed, the Liberals and the Pälysovia First men will surely capitalize on the public dissatisfaction. -RØNND- Røne opinions regarding factories are far more negative. The country, being traditionally nomadic and rural, and currently the Dual Republic's agricultural and fishing hub, feels that industrialization will only come with downsides. They're also especially protective of their fishing business, vehemently pushing away offers from commercial fisheries. While the Pinks do believe that a strong economy is the only way to push the welfare state that they so wish for into existence, they can't lose any more support or risk a genuine loss from the Greens or Reddies. Therefore, Rønnd has seen a downwards spike in industry, although there has been some meddling from the Maroons in Pälysovia. While industrialization is paused, getting it back on track is a very high priority for the Pinks - all they'd need is for public opinion to run just a little higher.
how it feels to develop otherwise meaningless lore as a tiny minor country instead of actually participating in anything: TLDR: Literally all just lore-politics stuff. -Pälysovs want industry, but don't want abysmal work conditions. -Maroons pushing for industry, no work laws yet but promised by '38. Rival parties skeptical. -Rønes hate industry, but ruling Pinks want it. -Industrialization of Rønnd paused, but continuing it is high priority.
