NOTE: yes this is absolutely a ripoff of the like 4 year old gc project, but these are still my honest opinions on the episode I really don't like this episode as a whole, and for a lot of reasons. First of all, a lot of the things that happened felt unnecessarily contrived. Yes, they had to set up the show for IDFB's revival, but I feel like a lot of stuff happened because the writers said so. But also, it feels like they pulled the "evil leafy is tied to normal leafy's emotions" plot out of thin air, especially since this hasn't been set up at all for the ENTIRE SEASON. Also, doesn't the "firey trying to save leafy" storyline directly contradict BFB? I'm not as familiar with that season, so I wouldn't really know, but I thought that that was the whole point of the lava lake episode. Also why was any of this necessary? I feel like for a 46-minute episode, there were about 8 minutes of meaningful content, and everything else was a long, unnecessarily drawn-out Cake at Stake. In fact, I had the exact same problem with BFDIA 24, but at least for that episode the Cake at Stake was the challenge. All this said though, just like GC, I do think there are some good bits in the episode, and the soundtrack is SPECTACULAR, but the writing feels really rough around the edges (and centers) in a lot of places.
