as someone who used to be hyperfixated on something, just because you like something a lot, doesn't mean you're hyperfixated on something. If you like something a lot, call it "favorite interest" or something else. hyperfixating on something means an INTENSE interest on a hobby, show, task wtv. When you are hyperfixating on something, it MIGHT/WILL effect your life. Its often obsessive, and can make you forget about basic needs. (eating, sleeping etc) I really like tf2 and Madoka magica, but I wouldn't consider it as a hyperfixation. More as a special interest/favorite interest. I can manage those interests, and even if I bring it up a lot, its not all consuming. While hyperfixations are more obsessive. Having an hyperfixation isn't always a bad thing, as you get more info on a certain topic, but you might become disengaged from real life. Hyperfixation is NOT also the same as being extremely focus on something either.
I got most of my info from : https://add.org/adhd-hyperfixation/ and also a bit from my own experience. please correct me if I'm wrong on anything !!!!!!
