Softwillow's Story: Chaphter 2: Whispering Winds Softkit woke with a start. It was today! This is the day she will finnaly become an appretice. She scrambled out of bed, careful not to wake anyone. The nursery was getting crowded, Lavenderrain kitted shortly after she opened her eyes, which resulted in Willowkit and Sunkit, along with Iceyglow, who was 1 moon away from kitting. She managed to make it to the entrance of the nursery without waking anyone and she sliped out of the nursery. The air in the clearing was warm as she bounded into the clearing. "Hi Bramblepaw!" Softkit called to him as he sat at the prey pile. "Hey, Softkit!" He called while eating a mouse "Are you excited for today?"He asked "Yes!" She exclaimed padding to the prey pile "But I bet Brookkit is more excited" She said flicking her tail "She was jumping up and down last night" She said with a purr "My mom could not calm her down" She said with a mrow of laughter. "But, yes I'm really excited" She said "Firestar said the meeting will be at sunhigh" She said looking at the sun. Fernpaw came up behind them "Hi!" She said "Are you excited?! Today's the day!" She said excitedly, which was a difference from her usaual quiet dememor. "Yes, yes" Softkit said as the sun climbed higher in the sky and she heard excited squeaks from the nursery. Willowkit bounded out of the nursery, a little ball of energy. "It's today, it's today!" She said excitedly "Are you excited to hunt? To fight?TOEXPLORETHETERRIROTY" She said breathlessly. "Yes!" Softkit said fluffing out her pelt. The sun was climbing higher in the sky when Willowbreeze came out of the nursery and started cleaning Brookkit, despite Brookkit's complaining. Softkit quickly started to clean herself, as the ceremony would be soon. She had just finished when Firestar climbed the high rock and said "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather below the high rock" He announced. Softkit ran over, her body tingling with energy."Today, 4 kits will become apprentices" He said as he looked down on Softkit and her littermates. "Rainkit, from this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Rainpaw. Your mentor will be Cloudtail" He said as Rainpaw bounded up to touch noses with Cloudtail. "Brookkit, rom this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Brookpaw. Your mentor will be Graystripe" Brookpaw sat down next to her mentor, wiggling her tail happily. "Windkit, from this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Windpaw. Your mentor will be Tallwhisker" He said as Windpaw, turned to study his mentor. "And Finnaly, Softkit, rom this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Softpaw. Your mentor will be Sorreltail" He said sitting down. Excitement coursed through Softpaw as she ran to tough noses with Sorreltail. "Brookpaw, Rainpaw, Windpaw, Softpaw!" The clan cheered. Softpaw spotted her mother and father sitting next to eachother, their eyes shining. "I have one more announcement to make" Firestar said "Willowbreeze has chosen to stay in the nursery as a queen" He said as Willowbreeze flicked her tail "Her time as a warrior has come to an end" He said sadly "But she will now help Queens and their kits until she chooses to retire. Clan dismissed." He said jumping down from the rock.
