This is the Cornutus Skavo. A semi-aquatic ambush predator that burrows into sand, waiting for something to trigger its highly sensitive fins. The fins are covered in an acidic mucus, which dissolves sand stuck to them and stings creatures that touch them. It purposely sticks out the fins, because they mimic a plant. And when a herbivore tries to eat the "plant", it is stung, giving the Cornutus enough time to burrow out of the sand and strike. It can breathe underwater thanks to its gills, but it only uses them when basking, because they love to sleep in the warm summer seas. Its vision is quite poor, as it is blocked by the tusks. It is built for close-range combat, but it is terrible at ranged combat because its vision is poor. When winter comes, these creatures rush to warm caves to burrow into and sleep in until summer ( I imagine some predators like to dig it out during its hibernation). But this species is notoriously territorial and will fight each other to the death to claim their cave. Its tusks are used for cracking open shells, and when a shell is successfully punctured, the Cornutus will keep on biting until its prey is dead. It can easily be scared off by making strong vibrations in the sand, a flaw that its prey uses to their advantage. During mating season, males will fight over a female and see who has the longest tusks. I want to make this a bit more suitable for the planet, so it would be nice if you could give some suggestions in the comments. Have a nice day!
