Green flag I love the "Why do you try?" because it sounds like a genuine question. This thing knows it's going to cause the end of the world, but it can't comprehend "fighting to at least try". It thinks they should just accept they won't win, and give up. But they don't. And it doesn't understand why. The Titan's line "You dared to open the door, behold a dark yet darker void as it grows." You find Gaster by opening a mysterious door. And all throughout the game, Ralsei has been the angel on our shoulder, convincing us to use mercy against our enemies, just like Undertale. But now, not only is he fighting alongside us, but ACTIVELY ENCOURAGING us to bring the Titan's demise. Up until now, the two games tried to get us to spare everyone, even monsters like Flowey, who lacked any sense of compassion. That can only mean one thing. The Titan isn't like our previous foes, who held SOULs, lives, and motivations. It is a mindless, all-consuming demon who must be destroyed at all costs. And mind you, this is only the HALFWAY POINT. I can only imagine what terrifying beasts we'll have to face in the future. And reminder, this Titan is an infant. Also, the vibe of GUARDIAN is dark, menacing, and overwhelming, almost like the song itself is saying, “There is no hope here. Give up.” Seemingly in contrast to that, Ralsei turns the light, hopeful lyrics of Don’t Forget into a battle song, as if saying, “There is still hope. If we stand together in the dark, we can be the light.” And seemingly in retaliation to Ralsei’s battle song rendition of Don’t Forget, the Titan twists the hopeful Once Upon A Time motif into a dark version, as if saying, “Even everything you hold as light will fall to the Fountain’s darkness.” Also femboy Ralsei haha
