The Holodomor — the Soviet Union’s 1932–1933 famine in Ukraine — is widely recognized by historians as a deliberate campaign of mass starvation aimed at suppressing Ukrainian nationalism. It killed an estimated 3–7 million people and left deep social and demographic scars. The 10 Stages of Genocide model, developed by Gregory Stanton, can be applied to the Holodomor to show how it followed a predictable sequence of escalating violence and dehumanization.
