Mommy Long Legs was once a cheerful spider-like toy created by Playtime Co. in 1991. She was designed to stretch her arms and legs like rubber and became one of the company’s most popular toys because of her playful personality and motherly voice. But behind the scenes, Playtime Co. secretly used children in cruel experiments to create living toys. The experiment connected to Mommy Long Legs was known as Experiment 1222, and the child used for the experiment was believed to be an orphan named Marie Payne. After being transformed into the toy, Mommy Long Legs was forced to live inside the factory for years. By the time of The Hour of Joy, Mommy Long Legs had become unstable and angry after years of imprisonment. During the uprising led by The Prototype, she helped attack the humans inside the factory. Later, in Chapter 2 of Poppy Playtime, she controls the Game Station area and forces the player to compete in dangerous games. At first she acts sweet and playful, but she quickly becomes terrifying whenever the player wins or disobeys her. After chasing the player through the factory tunnels, she is pulled into a machine and crushed. Right before dying, she cries out in fear when The Prototype arrives to take her body parts away, showing that even the monsters inside the factory feared him.
