I'm always missing my OCs' birthdays, but I'd make a little something for Seth this year. I felt like his birthday was pretty important. So in case you didn't know, today (May 22) is Seth's canonical birthday! I technically created him sometime in December, but I really wanted Seth to have a late May birthday, so yeah. BOY OH BOY has Seth changed and developed since his creation. He was originally going to be just a side character who was a shy and nervous guy with unknown trauma, but then I fleshed out his whole backstory, which included giving him a large family and several long-term health issues, and now he's one of my most developed Minecraft OCs ever (even more developed than Ice, who was supposed to be the main protagonist of Server 2.) Seth also kind of saved Tales from Server 2 from being cancelled, but I digress. I wish I could tell you all his lore, but it's really all over the place, and some of it might be a little mature for Scratch. Now enjoy the art! I also want to say a few things about this piece. I decided (just a few days beforehand) to give Seth a birthday bouquet with appropriately themed flowers, so I did a little research about flower symbolism! (I've been seeing other artists incorporate flower symbolism into their art and stories, and I kind of wanted to do that too!) The flowers featured are anemone, chamomile, lily-of-the-valley, marigold, and violet! I thought they were all quite fitting. So! The lily-of-the-valley is the birth flower of May, and represents sweetness, humility, and a return of happiness. The anemone is all about the forsaken, as well as sickness, brevity, and anticipation, which Seth knows all too well (also, it happens to be part of the username of a disabled artist I've been observing on Toyhouse.) I picked chamomile for its medicinal properties, and it means strength in adversity. The marigold means grief, and the violet signifies faithfulness and watchfulness. I sure had fun learning about these flowers while putting this together. In conclusion, I'm pretty happy about this piece, and it's the first artwork of one of my OCs that I've felt comfortable sharing on Scratch in awhile! Art: me Character: My guy of all time!
